What Biden was struggling to say was ‘why can’t the FDA hurry the hell up with their approval process so we can start sticking kids’ to protect adults. Think about that for a minute. I seem to recall Trump catching flak for pressuring the FDA.

Something about not taking a vaccine that was rushed by Trump.

Though Trump’s hurry doesn’t seem to be a problem now. Go figure. But the FDA approval process is *legendarily* slow and methodical. It’s why FDA approval means what it does. It’s the Cadillac of approvals, globally.

So, the Biden administration is going to put pressure on the FDA to grant their Cadillac approval to these vaccines. That way, kids can be stuck with them and their parents can pretend they’re not experimental. But let’s not kid ourselves. If the FDA bows to political pressure their Cadillac approval won’t actually be a Cadillac.

It will be something else.

Yes, I know that your Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) is VERY conservative and stringent when it comes to licensing any new drugs for human use. It is a gigantic "grouchy" regulatory authority, that is largely a law unto itself.


Having said that, when Trump was President, he managed to get the "Right to Try" legislation passed. If you haven't heard of it, I'll tell you what is...


I was watching a big MAGA rally on my lap-top last year; Trump was on stage and, at one point, he said: "Is Mary Smith (I can't remember her real name) out there ? Mary, come on up, !" In a minute this beautiful, vibrant young girl made her way up onto the main stage of the rally stadium, Trump stood back and motioned her toward the central microphone). Mary was very excited and obviously over-joyed as she told the big rally crowd her story....


She has been diagnosed with a terminal illness of some kind and been treated with a range of drugs her specialists, but nothing worked. Mary said that over the past 2-3 years she had been told by different doctors that there was nothing more they could do, and that she was going to die (for sure).


Then Trump's "Right to Try" legislation was passed. This legislation gives patients who have a terminal illness the "Right to Try", late -stage experimental drugs, that drug companies have synthesized, but have not yet obtained the regulatory "all-clear" to market for human use. For example, suppose the pharmacologists at a drug company like "Zeneca", has developed a new experimental drug for lung cancer called "Bupresstophion", it looks promising, but still has over three years of (successful) clinical trials to complete, before the FDA will even start to consider licencing the new drug for human use.


Trump's "Right to Try" legislation gave Mary the right to try a new, unlicenced, experiment drug that had not yet managed jumped through all the FDA (and other) regulatory hoops, PROVIDED her condition is terminal, and none of the other treatments available have been successful.


Mary told the crowd she opted to try a new experimental drug and, as it happened, this drug completely cured her. You could see just looking at this girl, who was in her early 20's that she was a picture of robust good health; and, as I say, she was very pretty and looked a "Million Bucks" up on the stage. "Mary" was talking "breathlessly"- at a thousand miles an hour - as she told her story, and she had this "High Voltage" verve about her. I think this was because (1) She was so very happy just to be alive, PERIOD, and (2) She was thrilled to have given the opportunity to thank Trump personally in front of America for pushing to get the "Right to Try" legislation through, that, basically, saved her life.


It was a very touching thing to watch, believe me. (Even I "misted up" - and I'm a hard-assed bastard) When "Mary" had finished telling her story, she jogged towards where Trump was standing at side of the stage and gave him a big spontaneous hug, then disappeared back down into the ranks of the MAGA crowd. What struck me next is this... there was no cheering and applause from the crowd after Mary had finshed telling her story on stage, just..."crickets." Everyone, I think, was quiety reflecting on what a wonderful gift life was, and how grateful they were to be alive at that moment.



The final point I like to make is that lots of Presidents before Trump had tried to get "Right to Try" legislation though, but had not succeeded. I am a pharmacist, so I can tell you that it is VERY difficult to get big Regulatory Authorities (like the FDA) to bend their rules even slightly, even if what you are asking them to do is eminently reasonable. They are EXTREMELY conservative, and if they decide they need to use it, they have plenty of political clout. Once again, however, Trump had the sheer determination to cut through the "red tape" and other obstructions to deliver the goods.




Trump chalked up an astonishing number of substantial (at the very least) achievements when he was President between 2016 and 2021. A lot of what he got done was due to his amazing will-power and positive drive. If he thought some proposition - say, a policy proposition - would be (genuinely) good for the US/American people, and he wanted to make it happen - TRUMP WOULD MAKE IT HAPPEN ! I've never seen a political phenomenon like Donald Trump in my life... ( And to think that tens of millions of Americans voted for that "BUBBLE-HEADED BOOBIE", Biden, in 2020 makes me think that half of the Yanks in the USA have seriously "lost the plot". I don't know what's caused it ?? - (is it drugs ??!! too much Junk Food ??!!) - I don't know, but it SCARY
