That’s unfortunate but it’s not the usual scenario involving a runaway immune cascade in Covid deaths. I suspect some facts are missing.

Pneumonia, Strep and Staph are all opportunistic infections that almost always come with any serious respiratory disease. Sroke is caused by COVID. My family member died after being unable to breath when they took the vent off and his heart stopped, do you claim his cardiac arrest was not caused by Covid?

    YOU ARE A FUCKING IDIOT.

It is unfair that infections will gang up on patients like that, but they often do. Life is not always fair. Strep and staph can be treated with antibiotics, but when you throw in a strong viral infection, and it becomes very difficult to stop.

If he had presented with only a bacterial infection, he would probably be alive. If he had presented with only a viral infection, he would probably be alive. He presented with all of the above, and it was too much for him to handle.

Strep and staph are ubiquitous in and on our bodies. Normally our defenses keep them at bay. But once another infection, in this case the COVID virus, appears, the body diverts all its resources to fighting it. That gives the strep and staph a chance to flourish, which in this case they did very aggressively. You are right; absent the COVID infection, the child would likely not have died.

So what Volsrock is arguing is that Covid-19 is not that bad, as long as the child is in a germless environment where nothing else can effect him.

I think what he's doing, besides politicizing the death, is pretending that the child did NOT die from COVID (and by extension, neither did the other 630K Americans), but from the comorbidities of bacterial infection plus stroke. This has been an ongoing thing among the Reichwingers since the pandemic started. Remember Darth's "Only 61 deaths" thread? Case in point.

The virus moves down your respiratory tract. That’s the airway that includes your mouth, nose, throat, and lungs. Your lower airways have more ACE2 receptors than the rest of your respiratory tract. So COVID-19 is more likely to go deeper than viruses like the common cold.

Your lungs might become inflamed, making it tough for you to breathe. This can lead to pneumonia, an infection of the tiny air sacs (called alveoli) inside your lungs where your blood exchanges oxygen and carbon dioxide.

f your doctor does a CT scan of your chest, they’ll probably see shadows or patchy areas called “ground-glass opacity.”

For most people, the symptoms end with a cough and a fever. More than 8 in 10 cases are mild. But for some, the infection gets more severe. About 5 to 8 days after symptoms begin, they have shortness of breath (known as dyspnea). Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) begins a few days later.

Many people who get ARDS need help breathing from a machine called a ventilator.

As fluid collects in your lungs, they carry less oxygen to your blood. That means your blood may not supply your organs with enough oxygen to survive. This can cause your kidneys, lungs, and liver to shut down and stop working. It can lead to a stroke.

What Else Does COVID-19 Do to Your Body?
Some people also have symptoms including:

    Pinkeye
    Rashes
    Liver problems or damage
    Heart problems
    Kidney damage
Dangerous blood clots, including in their legs, lungs, and arteries. Some clots may cause a stroke.

Most respiratory illness can often lead into pneumonia. My Mom had bronchitis lead into pneumonia. How do you not know these simple things?

Write it down in crayons and ask his mother to read it for him.

more than COVID was at play, here

The boy did have strep and staph bacterial infections in addition to covid, and he died of a stroke.

The family lives on a farm (lots of germs around if livestock or other farm animals are present). The boy had been sick for a number of days, including headache, weakness, and vomiting. His parents didn’t seek medical help until they saw that the boy’s tongue had turned white. Sounds like advanced bacterial infection.
