A deal between Germany and Russia is not our business.

Yes it is very much our business as it allows russia a hold over all of the euro nations . when they start using the flow of natural gas to heat and fuel euro nations to the point they become dependent on then and russia can then threaten to turn off the tap or do what we want.

you do understand there are already many pipelines from Russia to Europe?

The difference in Nordstream2 is that it's a direct pipeline -bypassing Ukraine -and their transit fees

From the Western point of view, Vladimir Putin is seen as a ruthless autocrat ready to kill all his opponents.

In Russia, there are opponents, but they are far from being in the majority.

Russian culture is very different from that of Western democracies. Russians like a leader with an iron fist. They like to see Putin put Russia back on the international stage.

Many are proud to see that Russia is once again respected as a military superpower.

The Boris Yeltsin era, which Putin considered weak, has left its mark. Many could not bear to see their president give such a pathetic image of the country.

Even though Vladimir Putin ruled the country with an iron fist, he remained strongly supported by the majority of Russians.

Many believe that a democracy as strong as the one we have in European countries could not work in Russia. Moreover, behind him there is no strong leader who could carry Russia in the same way as he does internationally.

The real problem is that he is having a hard time moving the Russian economy forward. In fact, the living conditions of Russians are hardly improving. This is his main grievance

Syria is inconsequential. it's a rubble /a money pit -let Russia have it
Removing the sanctions on Iran by Biden is MUCH MORE income for Iran
    Screw Ukraine - they are the ones responsible for the Crimea annexation;
Poroshenko wouldnot secure Russia lease to Sevastopol.

But aside from the geopolitics - why is it our business what other nation states contract?
Russia isnt much more then a "glorified gas station" (McCain) - but yes it has a modern armed forces.

If we had any sense we'd do what Nixon did ( China card) and shepherd Russia into the western economy
away from the clutches of China
But we saw what happened with impeachment - the crazed Russiaphobes dont want detente-
they want the Cold War 2.0 we are in now
