Actually, Fauci has been the most respected epidemiologist in the world for decades. Trump would have trouble picking Tucker. I am sure he considered it. He thought he could control the doctors and the epidemic knowledge. However, the CDC just goes by accumulated knowledge and working procedures. Trump did not want that. It was all about him and 2020. So he had to gut the doctors and tell his followers what the truth was. It fucking worked.
