Trump encouraged his supporters to March on the Capitol “patriotically and peacefully” which they did. Then a small minority went out on their own and rioted inside the Capitol. What else is there to say about it, for him?

Some of the lemmings are probably delusional enough to think Trump ‘planned the insurrection’ but I strongly suspect Pelosi knows better. So, Shifty Schiff and the rest will raise all sorts of innuendo about Trump provoking the riot; Republicans will come back with ‘well, even reasonable non-rioting people were skeptical of the outcome’. And they’ll go back and forth with that.

And in the end it will be another waste of time that results in, yet another, nothingburger.

Or, since this all pivots around the election, Republicans could call ten or twelve of the hundreds of people who swore affidavits attesting to the fact they witnessed election fraud. Put them under oath if democrats balk at that. And by the way, why should they balk at it? They insist the election was squeaky clean so they have nothing to fear.

Let’s get all of it out in the open. Let the people decide. Democracy dies in darkness.

I expect that Trump is smart enough to not participate in a kangaroo court. This has a very Stalinesque feel to it.

Schiff is a Harvard educated lawyer, with a career in prosecuting criminals. trump's lawyers do everything they can to keep him from testifying, because he has trouble keeping an idea in his head. I think very quickly you would be mugged by reality in that one.

Can't blame the Democrats, the GOP had every opportunity to have a equally represented Committee with equal subpoena powers on both sides but they turned it down

You think trump will claim executive privilege when it comes to the insurrection? That would be an admission that the insurrection was run from the white house. It would be a confession of guilt.

trump cannot admit to leading this (being the executive of it). his only hope is pleading the Fifth... But then Congress can offer him immunity, and then that goes away.
