Russia & the UK have been on sides, for & against- going on 500 years and much of that involved UK attempts rein in/hamper Russian ambitions & expansion..

Personally makes no difference to me who has the Crimea, but Russia did take it in 1783 from the Mongols & Turks who nominally controlled it & the slave trade in Ukrainians, Russians etc...

I don't know of any bitching the UK did @ the time..

We have enough problems & shit to deal w/ already don't we??
"There is no question former President Trump bears moral responsibility. His supporters stormed the Capitol because of the unhinged falsehoods he shouted into the world’s largest megaphone," McConnell wrote. "His behavior during and after the chaos was also unconscionable, from attacking Vice President Mike Pence during the riot to praising the criminals after it ended."

No No No....these Modern Morons have no interest in dealing with the problems that matter first.

They are way the fuck too ignorant to do that!

    Buckle Up.

I think most people would agree that Crimea is 'Russian'.

Despite the bravado and harsh Foreign Ministry statements, the Kremlin is worried. Its control of the Crimea does not compensate for the lag of the Russian surface fleet compared with the capabilities of the key NATO naval powers: the US, the UK and France, which remain the world's only "blue water" navies — i.e., capable of global sea power projection. Russia has almost no chance of catching up, even in the medium term.

Putin knows well that any attempts to push back against NATO's presence on the Black Sea is futile. But, as always, he is afraid to appear "weak" and prefers to "play madman" — even if that means risking lethal consequences.

But the Kremlin's hysterics stopped worrying NATO. The alliance now seems to have taken Putin up on his favorite game: seeing who blinks first.

When did we concede the Black Sea to Russia? Russia has only 14% of the Black Sea coastline, while NATO nations have 33%. The other 53% is belongs to countries that Russia has partially invaded. That makes the Black Sea more NATO's sea than Russia's.

The next problem -mark my words- will be if/when Ukraine becomes part of NATO and Article 5 then applies to Ukraine
Russian ships often sail along our coastline, which is unfortunately their right under freedom of navigation. Maybe we should start attacking them in retaliation.

I strongly doubt the Ukraine will be invited to join either NATO or the EU. It is too big, and in too much trouble. Instead, it will be kept at arms length, only tacitly protected.

Russia claims these waters... Much like China claims their waters. International law disagrees with both.

I remember when the Republicans were not a puppet of the Russians. Reagan is rolling over in his grave.

The kerfuffle around the UK ship in Crimean waters was essentially a commercial - they're selling naval stuff to the Ukrainians, that's all.

Considering that it was already Russian when a drunken USSR leader, Khrushshev , a Ukrainian, handed it to Ukraine without a government quorum - therefore illegally under Russian law- and that almost 100% of Crimeans voted to return to Russia in a recent, legal, referendum then yes, you'd be right.
Should some mindless Western bunglers decide to proceed with taking Ukraine into NATO then Russia will invade it and annex the whole fucking country permanently. Every political dumbass with half an eye on world affairs knows that already.
