Default Biden administration announces 'zero tolerance' for gun dealers

he Biden administration on Wednesday announced "zero tolerance" for gun dealers who willfully violate the law, as part of the administration's strategy to combat what the Department of Justice calls a "staggering" surge in violent crime.

The rollout will be highlighted by closely watched remarks by Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland Wednesday afternoon.

DOJ ACKNOWLEDGES ‘STAGGERING’ RISE IN VIOLENT CRIME AS IT ROLLS OUT EFFORT TARGETING GUN TRAFFICKING

The "zero tolerance" policy targets federally licensed firearms dealers who "willfully" transfer a weapon to someone prohibited from owning one or ignore a tracing request from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The ATF would seek to revoke the dealer's license after the first offense, a senior White House official said.

The Department of Justice announced Tuesday that it is launching "strike forces" to target gun traffickers and to provide more transparency around the enforcement of federally licensed firearms dealer policies.

Biden also plans to discuss how $350 billion of the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package can be used by cities to hire law enforcement officers, pay overtime, prosecute gun traffickers and invest in technology to make law enforcement more efficient. The officials said the Biden administration hoped cities would choose to use the money for alternatives to policing, too, and to invest in community policing models.

The administration has also taken aim at "ghost guns" and modified firearms, which are homemade firearms without serial numbers that can be used to trace them, making it difficult for law enforcement to determine where, by whom, or when they were manufactured and to whom they were sold.

The Justice Department’s ATF last month sought to update the legal definition of "firearm" in an effort to crack down on ghost guns.

it aint the illegal guns, there are plenty of guns otherwise.
It's the Soros funded prosecutors who dont apply cash bail
and refuse to prosecute criminals - so go into walgreens load up on shoplifting and nobody stops you

if gun dealers don't break any laws, fine

little to no gun regulations means more guns on the streets, thus more gun related felonies

what part of that don't you get?

the atf didnt have much of a sense of humor when trump was in office, dealers are not in the habit of transferring guns to criminals now they might if people had a good fake id.

I have had to deal with the atf a few times due to buying suppressors and restricted firearms . Its a year long wait to get approved and they have no sense of humor about wrong or missing information on forms

start with basic charging and no cash bails repeal.
Guns are the symptom of an out of control justice system

Two attorneys representing the families of crime victims have spoken out in recent days against the district attorney’s new directives.

“Did you know when you voted for the newly elected district attorney he was going to go to court and strike special circumstances to allow rapists and murderers to go back on the street early? Did he tell you that?” asked attorney Brian Claypool, who represents family members of two child murder victims.

if many of these felons hadn't had such easy access to guns they wouldn't be in prison to begin with

g8un regulations dont keep guns off the street dumb ass. most guns on the street used in shooting are stolen gun from peoples cars, homes , gun store robbery . Criminals really don't care about gun laws , they actually like them because less guns in the public's hands the easier it is to rob steal burn rape etc.

Its been decades ago but I think it was in one of the larger city's in Cali just dont recall which one. they started this were a gun free home and gun free business all over town and put up signs to proudly display they were part of the anti gun movement at the time.

Well it didn't take long for the thugs to realize they could hit the gun free homes and business and make out like fat rats with no one to stop them.
    with little to no resistance.
