Trump was taking over agency powers. He was working to take over the judiciary as packing the Supremes showed.. He installed a ton of judges who were picked by the Federalist Society to be far rightys and pro Trumpies. They were also very young, so we will have them for many decades. Trump Jr said if Trump was reelected, the FBI was his next target to fix. He took over Justice by putting Trump suckups in every important spot, like Barr. Barr became Trump's lawyer instead of the people's lawyer. He redefined his job to just be serving Trump. That is what every single nominee had to agree to. Will he pledge loyalty to Trump. Very mafia of him.
Trump fired people over and over until he found sycophants. they were just to do what they were told, even if the law and history were against it.

I have done so many times. We were always talking about general methods. They both use filibusters to block legislation they oppose and pretend it is some moral issue.
They both pretend a Supreme Court Justice should not be appointed during a presidential election year and then they decide they should for "moral" reasons.
It does not apply to specific acts like the insurrection. Because one side did it does not mean the other side has to perform a similar act to be the same. It is a stretch to even claim the 400 who attacked the Capitol were Republicans as opposed to Trump supporters.
Using your logic, if we are going to use specific events for comparison we would say Republicans never did anything like Fort Sumter. So, Democrats were the bad guys for years and then Republicans were the bad guys. It evens out.
No you haven't, and you couldn't even do it on THIS THREAD.
You had to imagine a hypothetical scenario in order to draw a false equivalency to something that actually happened, for which there is no precedent.
No, they use Cloture votes to prevent debate...no one actually filibusters anything, and we're the ones who want to get rid of the filibuster, which has no democratic basis at all. They both use filibusters to block legislation they oppose and pretend it is some moral issue.
But those Cloture votes do not compare to the violent coup attempt the GOP tried to pull off on 1/6.
Again, that precedent started just 5 years ago by McConnell and Democrats didn't prevent Barrett from being appointed. They both pretend a Supreme Court Justice should not be appointed during a presidential election year and then they decide they should for "moral" reasons.
So again, you're trying to bOtHsIdEs something only one side has done.

Only when you leave out important events. McConnell invoked the "Biden" rule that declared in 1992 he was not going to confirm any Bush election year nominees.
A cloture vote is to end a filibuster. It is not needed unless a filibuster is occurring. They no longer actually talk to filibuster, they just declare an objection. But, it accomplishes the same thing--prevents a vote on a bill.

Well there weren't any open SCOTUS seats in 1992, because Clarence Thomas was appointed and confirmed in 1991.
What declaration are you talking about? Byron White retired in 1993, which comes after 1992 if time is linear.
Blackmun didn't retire until 1994, 2 years after Clinton won.
There was no opportunity to block the appointment of a SCOTUS judge in an election year because there weren't any open SCOTUS seats in 1992.

Nope. Trump was the president. He is the presiding officer over many government agencies. He was not 'taking them over'. The president is already in charge of these agencies.
Trump was not packing the Supreme Court. The Democrats sure want to, though.
He can pick whomever he wants. The Senate must approve them, and they did.
So?
It needs fixing.
He did not 'take over' the dept of justice. The president already runs the dept of justice.
Barr was attorney general.
Never did.
Nope.
Very fictional of you.
Trump broke no law.

Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.
