Default Reservations required for wine tasting

I was reading that almost at a drop of the hat Woodinville wineries are going to reservation only. 40% of wineries are doing it (up from about zero pre pandemic) , including all/most of the big ones. This sure makes things more complicated for us given that we never know how the drive will be. It is 70 miles and last night it took us over three hours to get home.

Prices for tastings are also going up fast.

    Fuck Me.

I was reading that tastings are now over $50 on average in NAPA, over $30 in Sonoma. But they are getting much higher here, the second one we went to yesterday was $35 for six and we got to pick the six... we had to buy three bottles to get it waved. We wont be going back there I think.

I have downed so many beers during this life, in part because I lived for 6 years in Germany, three of them in Munich.

Plus I am diabetic now, and beer is basically liquid bread.

We had a great time yesterday doing something that we used to do a lot of but have done none of for 21 months, but overall I think hitting up wineries is going the way of hitting up Seattle restaurants and bars.....something that I dont do anymore because the experience has been degraded as the costs escalate. A huge part of the problem is that the road system is breaking down for various reasons, most of which relate to government failure.

I increasingly stay home and remember the Good old Days...back when America was fun, and worked.
