How did you honor this new holiday?

I cleaned out my refrigerator and cooked a pot of Lima Beans and Hamhocks!

Actually, that's appropriate...but try it from scratch sometime You'll be amazed....not that much more work...And actually less expensive in the end....

Community celebration....dinner was brisket/burnt ends sandwiches....and fresh cherry cobbler...

There may be no better desert than a Cherry Cobbler Crisp with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream!

Actually, that's appropriate...but try it from scratch sometime You'll be amazed....not that much more work...And actually less expensive in the end....

I do actually make my own Hushpuppies- BUT I USE JIFFY'S CORNBREAD MIX INSTEAD OF FROM SCRATCH. I just add some spices and onion powder.

AT times I even use that stuff to bread my fried shrimp and fish- always turns out great!

I'm a bit of a shortcut kind of guy.
