DuPont family was afraid it would compete with nylon. And actually, it would have.

So they got it banned. (via bribery/government control) I had a hemp rope in my back yard for over a decade. It was from a different country, but it was very strong.

Probably loses strength slower than nylon.

William Randolph Hearst invested a lot of money in paper and had the power to squash his competition like a bug.

So the politicians weren't for the people? Big surprise.

They're not even politicians, they bribed politicians, though.
That's who was behind getting r12 banned, too.
Back when you could work on your own air conditioner or refrigerator or whatever.

In other words, it's like the oil business. If there's an alternative, quickly squash it.

Hemp also does better in UV rays than plastic rope.

That's what I said.. there's a lot of sun and salt air here.

AC compressor can be toast in 4 years.

A set of Channel Locks will be full rust if left outside for 2 weeks.

Sun and salt air weathers stuff fast.

That rope I had was a marine rope, and made for it.

It lasted at least 15 years.

Yeah, I see no reason to do that.

    Mine is much more convenient.
