Calculator was a common job in the aerospace industry up through the end of the 60's. A Calculator was a person that solved the math for equations submitted by engineers and scientists using a slide rule, etc. Many Calculators were women with degrees in fields like mathematics that couldn't get other employment due to their gender.
The job has since been made obsolete by scientific calculators and computers.
