Personal Ignore Policy PIP: I like civil discourse. I will give you all the respect in the world if you respect me. Mouth off to me, or express overt racism, you will be PERMANENTLY Ignore Listed. Zero tolerance. No exceptions. I'll never read a word you write, even if quoted by another, nor respond to you, nor participate in your threads. ... Ignore the shallow. Cherish the thoughtful. Long Live Civil Discourse, Mutual Respect, and Good Debate! ps: Feel free to adopt my PIP. It works well.
I see a big problem. People coming in that do not share our values as Americans. People who do not share our history. My High School history teacher talked about our country being taken over and ultimately changed, not by war but without a shot being fired. Open borders and allowing anyone and everyone citizenship is exactly what he was talking about. I believe that’s what was being addressed “100 years ago” (quoting the OP) when the change was made. I prefer to keep it that way.

We are talking two different things.
One. You are right about Capitalism 'wanting to reduce Labor costs'. That's why manufacturing went to Asia. That's why 'Automation' is replacing 'Humans'. That's why importing Third World Labor (technically this is called the 'Saudi/PoliTalker Plan') is used to replace the American Worker.
Two. Religious Quacks promote 'MORE PEOPLE' not really caring about 'Quality of Life'. Religious Quacks, whether Christian, Jews, or Muslims, are in a Race to 'out produce' everyone else. They don't really give a shit about the Planet, ... they are all going to Paradise in the End. This 'We Are The Chosen' mentality, along with the 'Eternal Paradise', gives then this 'Fuck Everybody Else' attitude.
"The combination of the three demographic factors described above—fertility, immigration, and mortality—determines CBO’s projections of total population growth. Over the course of the next decade, immigration accounts for about 60 percent of the overall increase in the size of the population, and the net contributions of fertility and mortality account for the other 40 percent. With fertility rates expected to remain below the replacement rate, immigration will become an increasingly important part of overall population growth in the United States. In CBO’s projections, deaths exceed births by 2044, indicating that without immigration, the population would decline. Thereafter, population growth is driven entirely by immigration" [CBO]

Interesting position as well to say I want open borders for large numbers of immigrants to come here while basically telling them not to become successful or we’ll unite against you.
And what does unite against the rich mean? I have some rich friends. Are they my enemy and I should despise them because they’ve had more economic success than me?
--->"In CBO’s projections, deaths exceed births by 2044, indicating that without immigration, the population would decline."
This is the desired outcome. This is why we need to hang out the 'No Vacancy' sign.
'Automation, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence' is the Future ... NOT importing 'a million Basket Weavers'.

i love the "immigration" rates.
do they count in the 2.5 million projected this year alone flood of mostly unskilled migrants?
well im glad to see SOMETHING got you riled up, and you are exactly correct in your analysis,
as is the "not a shot" by the teacher
To use the left's term now you are "aware" - so what are you going to do about it besides post here?
do you support the wall ?
( in combination with Trumps' REMAIN in Mexico that kept asylum claims
from spilling over the border into the USA)
Even bigger is this isnt just gross incompetence - obviously Harris/Biden want open borders
These people are craven selling out the country for temporal political power. give them no quarter
That's not true, actually. There were numerous restrictions on immigration up until 1965. After 1965, restrictions still existed, but they were different in orientation but less numerous overall.
One of the major restrictions on immigration involved the Chinese Exclusion Act. As the name suggests, it heavily restricted immigration from China.
Immigration is more open now than it has been since the late 1800s.
