On June 16 at approximately 3:47 a.m., Ocean City police officers responded to the 100 block of 27th Street for a report of an armed robbery.

Upon the officer’s arrival, they met with the victim, 18, from Reading, Pennsylvania. The victim informed officers that he had exchanged words with five individuals on a motel balcony. The five individuals then confronted the victim in the parking lot.

The victim told officers that one of the suspects lifted his shirt and displayed the grip of a handgun. The victim was then robbed of his personal property.

The five suspects left the area with the victim’s belongings, a report from the Ocean City Police Department said. The victim was able to provide officers with detailed descriptions of the five suspects.

Two of the suspects were arrested by Ocean City Police a few hours later in the vicinity of the robbery. Officers observed the remaining three suspects return to the motel and then leave in a vehicle.

Officers initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle. All three suspects were arrested. Two of the suspects had loaded handguns on them at the time of the arrest.

During the search of the vehicle, officers located marijuana greater than 10 grams in the vehicle. Officers searched the suspect’s motel room and located some of the victim’s personal property.

Through the coordinated efforts of Patrol Division and Criminal Investigation Division, the following five arrests were made:

    • Lawar Shawud Turner, 20, Trappe: Armed robbery, robbery, handgun in vehicle, loaded handgun in vehicle, handgun on person, loaded handgun on person, possession of firearm/ammo/minor, handgun use/felony violent crime, possession of marijuana 10+ grams, regulated firearm: illegal possession, and illegal possession of ammunition. Turner was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and was held without bond.

    • Ja’avier Nasjier Pierce, 19, Easton: Trespass-posted property, armed robbery and robbery. Pierce was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and held without bond.

    • Jahza Molik Barney, 21, Easton: Armed robbery, robbery, possession of marijuana 10+ grams, and driving without a license. Barney was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and was held without bond.

    • Juvenile #1, 17, Cambridge: Armed robbery, robbery, handgun in vehicle, loaded handgun in vehicle, handgun on person, loaded handgun on person, possession of firearm/ammo/minor, handgun use/felony violent crime, and possession of marijuana 10+ grams. Juvenile #1 was waived to adult status and was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner. Juvenile #1 was held without bond.

    • Juvenile #2, 17, Easton: Armed robbery and robbery. Juvenile #2 was waived to adult status and was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner. Juvenile #2 was held without bond.

Two men have been arrested in one of the fatal Memorial Day shootings in Orange County, which detectives described as retaliatory for a prior killing that same day.

Keyonte Eugene Dorch, 30, and Demordrick Pearson, 19, were arrested on charges of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Brandon Smith, 36, who was shot May 31 on Holly Street in Zellwood.

Smith was shot just after 7 p.m. in his vehicle, and was pronounced dead the following day.

The shooting came just two hours after deputies responded to a different shooting about 25 miles away, on West Colonial Drive near Barry Street, in which Willie Standley Jr., 23, was killed. Detectives have not yet arrested anyone in that case, but have asked for the public’s help finding and identifying a 2006-2010 Volvo XC60 SUV that “may be associated” with the shooting.

According to Dorch’s arrest affidavit, he showed up to the shooting scene on West Colonial Drive where Standley was killed, and was recorded on a deputy’s body-worn camera screaming, “A [expletive] about to die tonight. I put that on my mama.”

About two hours later, Smith was fatally shot in front of Dorch’s relative’s house, where several witnesses told detectives they saw him and Pearson fire their handguns at Smith. The affidavit said other men who were armed at the time also started shooting at Smith, but it’s unclear if OCSO plans to make any other arrests in the case.

Detectives said Smith had gone to the home of Standley’s relatives on Holly Street to explain he was not responsible for Standley’s killing, but soon after an argument broke out and he was shot. The affidavit said Dorch believed Smith to be responsible for Standley’s murder.

The affidavit for Pearson was not immediately available.

There have been “multiple drive-by shootings” directed at the families of the homicide victims from May 31, the affidavit said, but it was unclear if anyone had been arrested in those.

Dorch and Pearson are being held without bond.

A man has been arrested in Jackson County for stalking, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a press release late Thursday.

Corrada Romos Dairon, 30, from Miami was arrested for violation of a protection order and stalking.

FHP said it responded to the eastbound rest area on Interstate-10 near mile marker 133 in Jackson Co. around 6 p.m. Thursday night after receiving a call from a detective in Miami. They were told that a woman was traveling east from Texas and had been followed by a Dairon, who she currently held a protection order against.

As the victim stopped at the rest area for a restroom break, she returned to her car and found Dairon sitting in her car. She was able to inform the detective from Miami and the information was relayed to FHP.

Troopers were on scene within minutes and were able to locate the victim as well as Dairon.

Dairon was arrested, transported and booked into the Jackson County Jail.

Police have arrested four young Atlanta men who they say are behind a string of armed robberies, one of which ended with a man breaking his leg.

Officers said they were responding to a robbery call on Courtland Street where a man said four people tried to steal his cell phone and hit him in the face. He was able to get his phone back from the would-be robbers who then ran away.

While responding to that call, officers received another call that a man in the same area had been robbed and fallen off of a rooftop.

As officers were on their way to the second call, they noticed four men who met the description of the first victim. When the suspects saw the police car, they ran from officers. A short time later, they were captured with three handguns.

The arrested suspects were later identified as Myles Njie, 18, Legend Jackson, 19, Hezekiah King, 18, and a 14-year-old juvenile.

They are facing a laundry list of charges, including: kidnapping, armed robbery, aggravated assault, battery, obstruction, pedestrian in the roadway and curfew violation. Police say more charges could follow.

Bigotry is alive and well in Trumpland. Robbery has never been a political act.
Tulsa and Rosewood are examples of what political murder and crimes look like.

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office says they arrested a suspect after a car was stolen with a young child inside.

Deputies say they arrested the suspect, 34-year-old Elijah Scott III, after locating him on Bramlett street during the search that followed the theft.

Deputies received the 911 call at around 3:30 p.m. They were told that a vehicle with an 8-year-old child inside had been stolen from 600 Palmetto Avenue. The child's guardian had run inside to get something when the theft took place.

The stolen vehicle and the child were safely located near West Blue Ridge Drive, according to deputies. They said they performed an immediate search for the suspect but did not locate him initially.

Deputies located the suspect just before 5:00 p.m. Following an investigation, they took him into custody.

Scott is charged with Grand Larceny and Kidnapping, but additional charges are pending, according to deputies.

Shortly before midnight on Wednesday, June 16, deputies from the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a disturbance at the Circle K on Jonesboro Road in West Monroe.

Per the arrest report, when deputies arrived, they saw 32-year-old Crystal Wright attacking a Circle K employee who was exiting the store. Upon speaking with the complainant, they advised that Wright and her brother, 42-year-old Apollo Wright, were in the store yelling and cursing. When the clerk asked them both to leave, Crystal declined, stating “Have me arrested.”

While being transported to Ouachita Correctional Center, Crystal stated “You are cursed.” and spit in the officer’s face.
