Let's be honest about our racism and expectations.
If Cornell West was running for potus, he'd do better if he got a haircut, right?
So it's complicated. People do not just vote for who they want, they also vote who they think can win, and if your
expectation includes that others are racist, you may vote against a stereotype that does not bother you personally
but that you assume may dissuade others you need to effectuate your intent.
Biden was expressing that electability quality, I think. But I don't know. Maybe he was a boyscout. Liked Obama's good boy look.
Like Obama could rock some dreadlocks and win. What if Biden wore his hair like Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgmont High?
Biden had received 100 percent ratings for his voting record in the group's (NAACP) annual federal legislative report card.
Fact-check: Has the NAACP always endorsed Joe Biden? (statesman.com)
the NAACP issues a legislative report card for members of Congress rating their positions on bills pertaining to civil rights
Biden received several ratings during his decades-long career as a U.S. senator. Most were high.
Biden’s most recent report cards are from at least 15 years ago. In 2005-06 and 2003-04, he received a 100%. The link on the NAACP’s website for the 2001-02 report card was broken.
In the 1990s, he received grades of 90% or higher three times and received one 80%, one 70% and one 60%.
