I'm still tired from a late night after the outdoor concert; it did sprinkle a little there, too, but not enough to stop it.

I've been avoiding cable news for a while now because I just haven't been in the mood to to contemplate all the bullshit that's going on.

I think that Republican voter suppression is on the precipice of creating a national crisis far greater than even Covid and very possibly at a world war level of seriousness.
JPP seems shockingly unmoved by the shear magnitude of what's going on.

The Republican Party is seriously doing everything that they can to make sure that only the people of whom they approve will vote in states that they locally control.
This is indeed an act of civil war--not merely an act of secession this time--I'd be good with that, frankly--but a REAL civil war. An attempt to control the ENTIRE government.

It's in a crisis like this that our Constitution fails us badly--the framers didn't have the foresight to imagine what we're facing now.
Democracy my not work at this point.

A strong President would have 50,000 Republican insurrections executed on live television at this point, just to send the right message.
He would sent troops into Red State Legislatures and arrest the pachys for sedition--even though our ineptly written Constitution allows what's going on.
The emergency exists to suspend the Constitution to save the Republic. A strong President with loyal generals would do it.

We don't have that kind of strength in America,
and horrific dystopia looms because of that.

Golfed with the son yesterday then got in some pistol target shooting. Used a pole saw to cut limbs back from the pasture’s edge and stacked the brush this morning. Probably regained 3 to 5 acres of grazing. Hauled some rocks and put in the pond overflow after lunch to lessen the chance to lose fish in heavy rains. Probably will feed the catfish and shoot some turtles out of one of the ponds this evening. Planning to fry some mountain oysters for supper. Had tacos Monday. And I still disagree with socialist leaning democrats.

Now that virtually all the Republican controlled state legislatures, with the complete blessing of our pig shit constitution,
are dismantling the democratic republic of the United States of America by taking over complete control of who votes
and whose ballots get counted,

storming the capitol should no longer be necessary.


They have discovered how unnecessary it was to start the previous civil war by firing on Fort Sumter.
They could have just stayed home and done it in a perfectly constitutionally compliant way.

Rural Christian conservatives are able to destroy the republic as a minority
because the genius founders provided them the right to do it.

What's worse, the confederates are not merely seeking separation anymore.
Now, they want to take over the whole thing.
That, however, they can only do with our help.
Blue States have legislatures as well. Also, a fuck of a lot more money.

Civilized progressive liberals have got to wake up.
We no longer have the luxury of believing in the idyllic America that we were told about by clueless grade school teachers.
It was a nice thought, but it was total bullshit. We should be easily able to see that now.

There are people in the middle of this country who hate us,
who hate our modern and humane ideas,
who worship a magic man in the sky,
and who believe that the magic man wants them in charge.
They have lots of guns.
They have no brains whatsoever.

The centrists and fence-sitters among us are not neutral;
they're clearly on the side of the shitkicker crackers.
They're all Joe Manchin without the expensive haircuts that they wouldn't be able to get back in their home states such as West Virginia.

I don't belong to a shooting club anymore, but can easily get an invitation from my daughter.
Not sure I can even hit the paper anymore at my age. Haven't shot for as long as I remember.

Hitting the dimpled ball better than I expected to this year, but my putter appears to be broken.
I've got an entire old bag full of them, actually, and they're all apparently broken.

I just noticed that I let my passport expire. They're only good for ten years, of course.
I don't have any immediate travel plans, given my disgust with commercial airlines, but the Passport is also the most important ID as well.
Now I've got to go through all that shit again.

I don't go abroad often--I was always a Vegas vacation guy-- but there's one thing that I've always noticed when I did.
Other than my dog, the thing that I missed the most when in a foreign country is American food.

I would go on record as saying that America's greatest single attribute, unequivocally, is its food.
