It is already full speed ahead on getting rid of humans, like the ag industry has long done. There had been a sense that employing people, teaching them to work, giving them opportunity to grow and have meaning in their lives, this was all a public service, thus going high tech was bad for society.

I've sworn off all Fast Food Conglomerates and chains.

But I have discovered enough of the unique ethnic, bar-b-que, home cooking, and seafood restaurants to keep me fed now.

I know the owners and they know me on first name basis now.

Fast food places are desperate to get rid of humans for ordering, using AI instead....but that program is going slowly....at last report the best they can manage is a 15% error rate.

It needs to be less than 1% at least.

Any businessman I know of who does not use automation as of yet will certainly do so since it saves money once it becomes feasible whether the minimum wage is $1,25 or $20 per hour. They are not providing a charity for society but instead are running a business and if they can save money through automation, they most certainly will do so.

I am a socialist but no, it is not at all clear that America, or any of the West, will survive. A lot of the Regressives have been very clear that nation/states have outlived their usefulness and must go away...that is what open borders is all about.
