That's the thing you don't seem to understand. When an economy grows the people living there expect more.

The funny thing about all those companies you claim are leaving California for Texas is that the data ALEC uses shows that California has an economy that is growing at a faster rate than Texas. Shouldn't California be shrinking if they are losing all their businesses to Texas?
    Government handouts. Next stupid question?

I wonder why you can't explain an economy to me if I got it wrong.

A business that needs engineers is going to go to a location where they can hire engineers not a location that has low wages. It does no good to hire 1,000 people at $7.25 an hour if you really need 100 to design a plane or write software.
You have yet to get anything right Dick. As you just showed again.

Yeah. It does appear that Texas relies pretty heavily on Federal handouts when compared to California.

So California gets less from the Federal government per Capita than Texas and California's economy is growing faster than Texas and somehow you still want to argue that Texas has a better economy?

Do you have any other stupid answers?

Cost of living, taxes, and regulations.

The Census Bureau rates CA the highest poverty rate in the country when adjusting for cost of living.

Meanwhile back in the real world.

    GDP by state.
    California
    Texas
    New York
    Florida
    Illinois
    Pennsylvania

GDP per capita (which is a much better measure of economy)
    New York
    Massachusetts
    Washington
    Connecticut
    California
    Delaware

Oklahoma is 45th in GDP per capita. It seems that Alec's version of great economies are where the average wages are low and the workers can't bargain for higher wages.
While the study that Grok cites is by no means the be-all, end-all on this subject, your rebuttal here doesn't show the same thing. You are citing current economic condition whereas Grok's study is looking at factors influencing the near term future. That is, his study shows that states like New York, California, or Illinois are losing economic ground to states like Texas or Arizona. It argues that the driving cause in that is high taxes, lots of government, and a generous social-welfare state.

What you are arguing is that the economies in states like New York, California, or Illinois are better but that's like claiming Detroit's economy was better in say 1980 without knowing or predicting where it was headed. The decline there was already in progress but Detroit was still doing fairly well. Jump ahead twenty years to 2000 and Detroit is in collapse.

For example, in California manufacturing is fleeing that state as fast as it can. Sure, you have the software industry there for the time being but a single business segment is hardly a way to ensure future economic security.

The rate of Middle Class flight from Cali is so bad that renting a U-Haul truck to move out of the state costs thousands of dollars now--if you can find one, while renting one to go there costs a couple of hundred at most. That Cali has not lost population to this point is mostly due to an influx of poor, homeless, illegals, and other nonproductive types that have come for the generous social welfare benefits.

This is a problem for California...

You want to know where "Silicon Valley" is? It's in the Valley of the Sun, the Phoenix metro area now. All that's left of that in California are the office workers in software companies. Their computers are powered by chips made in Arizona.
