The 20-year-old black man who was fatally shot by a Minnesota police officer during a traffic stop in April was allegedly involved in an armed carjacking and violent assault three weeks before he was killed, according to a new lawsuit.

Daunte Wright — who was killed when Officer Kim Potter mistook her gun for a Taser — and an accomplice allegedly jumped 20-year-old Joshua Hodges on March 21 while he was sitting in his car in north Minneapolis, the court papers state.

Teen cousins accused of fatally shooting 17-year-old in botched drug deal

A pair of 16-year-old cousins are accused of fatally shooting a 17-year-old boy at a Florida park during a drug deal gone bad, a report said.

The teen suspects were arrested Tuesday and are facing murder charges in the killing of Taigur Taguri at Gordon Heights Park in Bartow on Monday, ClickOrlando reported, citing authorities.

The suspects are accused of setting up a marijuana deal with Taguri with the intention of stealing the drugs, according to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.

Baltimore man charged with hate crimes for attacking Asian American store owners

A Baltimore man accused of going on a rampage at three liquor stores owned by Asian Americans has been indicted on hate crime charges, prosecutors said.

Daryl Doles, 50, who allegedly bashed two Korean sisters in the head with a cinder block during his hate-filled string of attacks on May 2, was indicted by a grand jury Monday on 22 counts, including four charges of attempted murder and nine hate crimes, prosecutors said.

Rapper Pooh Shiesty arrested in Miami strip club shooting

Rapper Pooh Shiesty was charged in connection with a Memorial Day weekend shooting at a Miami strip club.

The 21-year-old recording artist, whose real name is Lontrell Williams, allegedly shot a club security guard in the leg, according to an arrest warrant, the Miami Herald reports.

The “Back in Blood” rapper was booked on aggravated battery charge Tuesday, according to local jail records.

Pooh Shiesty turned himself in after footage of the May 30 incident at the King of Diamonds club surfaced on social media, the Herald reports.

The crowd converged on the Uptown Minneapolis block where Winston Boogie Smith, 32, was fatally shot outside a parking garage on Thursday, chanting and scrawling anti-police slogans on the street and exterior of a restaurant, according to local outlets including the Star Tribune newspaper.

Smith, a rapper and father of two, was wanted in neighboring Ramsey County for failing to appear for a sentencing hearing last month, at which he was set to learn his punishment after pleading guilty to felony firearms possession.

The man who was fatally shot by Minneapolis cops Thursday had demanded “war” after George Floyd’s death, was wanted on a felony-arms rap — and appeared to have fired his weapon as authorities tried to arrest him, according to court records, online posts and officials.

Winston Boogie Smith, 32, was gunned down in the Midwest city around 2 p.m. when he “produced a handgun” and fired it from inside his vehicle as members of a US Marshals task force tried to take him into custody on the state warrant, officials said.

“Evidence at the scene indicates that the man fired his weapon from inside the vehicle. BCA crime scene personnel recovered a handgun as well as spent cartridge cases from inside the driver’s compartment,” the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said in a statement.

Video Shows Man Punching Asian Woman Unprovoked In New York Chinatown

ideo footage shared by a New York state lawmaker shows an Asian woman being punched in the face and knocked to the sidewalk for no apparent reason as she walked past a restaurant in Manhattan’s Chinatown.

Yuh-Line Niou, the state assembly member who represents the district that includes Chinatown, said the video was sent to her by a constituent.

Several bystanders can be seen helping the woman after the attack, as she sat stunned on the ground against a pole. Niou said the victim was “conscious and cognizant and alert.” She was hospitalized at New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital in stable condition, according to police.

Alexander Wright, 48, was arrested nearby and was charged with assault as a hate crime, assault and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Police took him to Bellevue Hospital for evaluation.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police have arrested a homeless man after another violent attack on an Asian woman in the city.

The incident, which happened on a crowded sidewalk, was caught on camera.

As CBS2’s Christina Fan reported, the Guardian Angels watched over Kong Sihk Tong restaurant in Chinatown on Tuesday, where less than 24 hours before a 55-year-old Asian woman was brutally punched and knocked out cold.


Video shows that as she lay motionless on the sidewalk, the suspect can be heard screaming that someone hit him. But witnesses and surveillance video show that was anything but the truth.

“The woman hit the ground, her butt hit the ground, she fell back, the back of her head hit the outdoor dining structure. And her eyes just shut off, blacked out,” said witness Jin Zhen.
