Default "DeSantis signs bill to fine tech companies for banning politicians"

"Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed a bill Monday that will fine social media platforms that try to permanently ban political candidates."

"The bill prohibits most tech companies from banning politicians in the state. Under the newly signed law, the Florida Election Commission can impose fines of $250,000 per day on any social media company that deplatforms any candidate for statewide office and $25,000 per day for deplatforming candidates for non-statewide offices."

DeSantis can't act nor move fast enough attempting to please Trump, it really has become a dog and pony show, embarrassing

Appears Ron isn't familiar with the First Amendment which prohibits the government from controlling speech on private entities. And conservatives keep telling us they love and respect the Constitution

Imagine every right wing nutcase now registering themselves in the Gunshine State as candidates for something so that they can have an outlet for their hate speech. Does this mean that say California can now pass a similar law controlling what Fox or OAN broadcast or doesn't broadcast?

LOL, I wonder under what authority he plans on doing that. Actually, I don't, he can't enforce it. He's just putting on an act for his Dear Leader.

There is a Federal Law that prevents DeSantis from implementing this, of course. Which is why he was so eager to do it. It has no force, but it will make the Donald happy and distract from his other problems.

Well, I wonder who challenges it first?

I'm guessing no one. Because Ron Ron won't actually try to enforce it. That isn't the point. If he tried, he would crash and burn, and Donny might be mad at him. It's all for show. Section 230 prevents this from happening.

Section 230 has no bearing on this at all. Do you revel in your stupidity and bullshitting?

Probably no one, why would they, DeSantis can't actually enforce it, and it he tried, would cost the Gunshine State a fortune
