We are there already. We got there by deciding that speech is violence and so anyone who takes offense has been assaulted, and then using hate speech laws to prosecute. Until our overlords develop brain scanners you can keep your own mind so long as you never speak it. What I find so interesting is that the Chinese have decided that simply never saying anything that is "wrong" is not good enough, one must now say the things that power wants said, the more often the better. As the social credit system continues to ramp up increasingly those who dont do enough of the right kind of cheering are considered suspect, and they have their lives torn apart by the state looking for those who are not "good citizens".
