The wife was a resident of the house, and gave them access. The gaining access was almost certainly fine. She gave the gun to the police, so that was probably constitutional(but this is where it gets gray). Then the police kept the gun, even after both Caniglia and his wife asked for it back. That is what the Supreme Court had a problem with.

Dont make the mistake of assuming that SCOTUS will support gun rights in future case....this is a court that likes to make deals....because they dont deal in justice anymore.....they are now a purely political body......with declining influence is the idiot Americans begin to wise up.

The Supreme Court weighed when police can enter homes without a warrant.
The Biden administration is urging the court to side with the officers.
The case is Caniglia v. Strom, 20-157.
