Right.
The British had the League of Nations Mandate for Palestine - as it was the British that were occupying it before the European Zionists turned up, post-war. The British absolved themselves of the problem they had themselves created by handing responsibility for Palestine to the newly-formed UN. with the proviso that all inhabitants of Palestine, Jews and Arabs, be treated equally. UN resolution 181 was passed to confirm that.
The Zionists, mainly war-experienced European soldiers, immediately turned on the British, committed the first bombing of civilians by blowing up the King David Hotel in Jerusalem and then assassinated the United Nations Peace Envoy, Count Bernadotte. Zionist terror-gangs, Irgun, Haganah etc. then set about the Arab population by implementing the Zionist plan of ethnic cleansing. When they believed that they had occupied enough Arab territory to expand the territory given to them by UN Resolution 181 they unilaterally declared statehood over it in 1948. So there was an Israel following UN Resolution 181 in 1947 - along with the state of Palestine, and a unilaterally-declared ' state of Israel ' including stolen Arab territory in 1948.
It's plain that Palestine has existed throughout recorded history. ' Israel ' was just a region occupied by Jewish tribes within it.
