Default Pro-Independence Parties Win In Scotland

The Scottish National Party won its fourth straight parliamentary election on Saturday and insisted it will push on with another referendum on Scotland’s independence from the U.K. even though it failed by one seat to secure a majority.

Final results of Thursday’s election showed the SNP winning 64 of the 129 seats in the Edinburgh-based Scottish Parliament. The result extends the party’s dominance of Scottish politics since it first won power in 2007.

“This is now a matter of fundamental democratic principle,” Sturgeon said. “It is the will of the country.”

Other results from Super Thursday’s array of elections across Britain emerged Saturday, including the Labour Party’s victory in the Welsh parliamentary election. Labour’s Sadiq Khan was also reelected mayor of London.

The election with the biggest implications was the Scottish election, as it could pave the way to the break-up of the United Kingdom. The devolved government has an array of powers but many economic and security matters remain within the orbit of the British government in London.

Scotland’s nationalists win vote to set stage for a second independence referendum

The BBC projected the Scottish National Party won 63 of the 129 seats in the Scottish Parliament, matching its performance in 2016 and giving it a fourth term in power. It left Sturgeon two seats short of a majority, though the pro-independence Green Party increased the number of its politicians to nine, based on the broadcaster’s projection.
The election was dominated by a single theme: whether the nation of 5.5 million should get another vote on leaving the UK in the wake of Brexit. The outcome sets up an escalating stand-off with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson over Scotland’s constitutional future.

A massive victory for independence. Sturgeon will deal with the pandemic first and then turn her attention to the English parasite virus.

Why is Guano getting involved in Scottish politics, he's not even Scottish?

John Curtice warns SNP could face wipeout after being crushed in nightmare by-election

A polling expert said if the by-election result was replicated at a general election the SNP's total number of MPs could collapse to six in what would be a huge blow to the Scottish independence cause.

If only our red states would follow suit.
This time we'll happily let them go.

In any case, partition is the way of the future.

    Failing that, Chuck,
would you consider Massachusetts as a replacement for Scotland?

You should have partitioned instead of having that awful war.

English politicians went lockstep with Trump's ideas. They are sophistical. They on the surface seem appealing but in implementation are destructive. The Sciopts have a right to make their own choices. They do not have to follow England off the cliff.

Why do the ladies of the left ignore this obnoxious man's overt sexism and racism? It's truly a mystery to me, is this yet another example of white guilt?

I don't know all about America and indeed have never claimed otherwise. It is also clear that you know absolutely fuck all about Scotland or indeed the UK.
