    GOVERNMENT HANDOUTS IN PERPETUITY

With Red states coming out of lockdowns, with unemployment still far higher than it was pre-Covid, the economy is in a striking predicament.

Businesses can’t find enough people to hire.

Enormous amounts of federal "stimulus aid" are boosting consumer spending on goods and services.

Yet employers are struggling to find workers.

There are more job openings in the U.S. this spring than before the politically-motivated pandemic panic hit in March 2020, and fewer people in the labor force, according to the Labor Department and private recruiting sites.

Many people are receiving more in unemployment benefits than they would earn in the available jobs.

Businesses are forgoing work, such as not bidding on a project, delivering parts more slowly or keeping a section closed.

“It’s a little shocking we’re at this point already,” said Steve Lucas, chief executive of iCIMS Inc., a cloud-based recruiting platform with 4,000 large firms such as Target Corp., CVS Health Corp. and Ford Motor Co. as customers. “Businesses are champing at the bit to grow.”

March job openings rose 34% compared with January 2020, before the pandemic took hold in the U.S., iCIMS said. Meanwhile, the number of job applications was down 13% in March from the pre-pandemic level.

The more comprehensive that they make the government's social safety net, the more white trash pachys like Lesion would benefit.

But then they have to put up with educated progressives scolding them for being racists, xenophobes, misogynists, religious bigots, and anti-intellectual buffoons.

They'd rather stay in the boonies, live on Spam, Bud Light, and meth, and vote as instructed by the right wing oligarchs.

Who's going to work if the government pays people not to? Especially on a permanent basis.

Default DEMOCRATS advance universal basic income bill with no funding mechanism

    LOW IQ

A costly proposal to send unconditional monthly cash payments of $1,000 to California residents has no funding mechanism.

But that didn't stop DEMOCRAT lawmakers from advancing the bill out of a policy committee Monday.

“I don't know what will happen to it, but it's my birthday today, and I'm going to give out a present, which is I'm going to support the bill,” Assemblymember Marc Levine (D-Greenbrae) said to laughs from fellow lawmakers on the Assembly Revenue and Taxation Committee.

The bill's author, Assembly member Evan Low (D-Campbell), wants to make California the first state to provide most adults a universal basic income, with no strings attached. Those payments would be capped only for residents who make more than twice a county’s median income.

But CA AB 65 (21R) could cost over $200 billion annually if California adults receive the payments, and new committee amendments stripped it of its funding source — a proposed millionaire's tax.

Impact: Fans of the universal basic income theory that became the centerpiece of upstart presidential candidate Andrew Yang’s 2020 campaign will likely be disappointed with the outcome of Low’s effort this year. However, the idea continues to gain momentum in the nation’s most-populous state and seems poised to become law in the future.

Background: The theory that widespread economic security can be created by providing residents funds for basic necessities has been debated in academic circles for decades, but has recently captured national attention as Yang discussed it on the debate stage. Cities around the country have launched pilot programs.

California’s own universal basic income experiment is playing out in Stockton, where residents receive $500 a month.

A universal basic income would be given to everyone in a designated geographic area and it would be distributed unconditionally, regularly, and on a permanent basis, as Dr. Ioana Marinescu, an associate professor of economics at the University of Pennsylvania who studies UBI, explains it.

It's about as straightforward as it sounds.

When it comes to funding a UBI, or a guaranteed minimum income, some suggest increasing wealth, carbon, income, or sales taxes. During his 2020 presidential run, DEMOCRAT Andrew Yang proposed a number of tax increases to fund what he called the Freedom Dividend, monthly payments to every American adult, no matter their income bracket. A nationwide UBI program like Yang suggested was forecast to cost around $3 trillion annually.

Left-leaning UBI advocates want to see it added on top of existing social safety provisions.

Go to a business to ask for an app and be directed to an online agency. Go there only to find their listing under a mountain of cannibal personal information scams. Open and fill out the application only to find the business used their applications to sell personal information also....

Do this while listening to threads about labor shortage.....

Yep, i can see why so many shootings this year....

If the job you're applying for doesnt include a service weapon and body armor, go back to playing video games lol

Well tRump and his sewer goons had no problem at handing tax break freebies to the rich, greedy and himself at adding over $8 trillion to the national debt while giving the working, middle class and retirees the shaft.

Do you have a yen for Yang?

This is the third time in a year that the government has sent money to people whether they, strictly speaking, need it or not.

A UBI—where the government cuts monthly checks to every living citizen, from vagrants to billionaires—got a prime-time public hearing in late 2019 and early 2020 during Andrew Yang’s DEMOCRAT primary campaign, but it didn’t entirely fade after Joe Biden came back from the dead by stealing the South Carolina primary. Nor is the idea likely to fade after the pandemic panic subsides. People don’t like losing benefits they’ve gotten a taste of.

Shocker, “copy and paste” starts another thread with a blown up portrait of a black American, says it all

And one of the major reasons some people aren’t quick to return to work is because seven dollars an hour isn’t enough to live on, current unemployment barely pays up to fifteen dollars an hour. If they want the workers to return, they have to pay them a living wage

It's a video interview with the former mayor of Stockton, CA and founder of Mayors for a Guaranteed Income, Michael Tubbs, regarding government handouts that aired on MSNBC and was posted on YouTube by MSNBC, Anchovies.

I didn't choose the interviewee, Anchovies. MSNBC did.

I didn't pick the video thumbnail on YouTube, Anchovies. MSNBC did.

    Poor Anchovies.

It, plus the enlarged emboldened reference to the Cadillac Welfare Queen theme, wasn’t necessary to the tread proven by the fact you felt the necessity of including a narrative from the “WSJ”

And from your later comment it is pretty obvious you don’t understand basic economic, not a surprise
