Sure, the Republican leadership want to be on his good side, but the Republican ship is taking on water. 2022 will either give the Democrats a tighter grip on Congress or see one or both sides of Congress flip red. My understanding is that if Rudy was part of the conspiracy, all privilege is lost.

Remember OJ's friend and initial lawyer? Me neither but he quit and OJ hired his "Dream Team". The suspicion at the time was that OJ confessed to his friend that he was all coked up and murdered Nicole. No lawyer can say a person is innocent if they are known to be guilty. They can plead insanity, self-defense,whatever but not "100% Not Guilty". This is why his friend removed himself as counsel, but helped pick the "Dream Team", some of who were also OJ friends.
