There clearly is some level of immunity, but it is nothing like we hoped it would be. It appears that immunity fades after only five months. The research on that is very preliminary, but even if you double that number, it still is a terrifying short time. Heck, even if you multiply that number by ten, we will never be out of this disease.

If only trump had provided the promised test kits, or at least not made the promise in the first place, we would know how good vaccinated immunity is. We can no longer test that directly, so it will take years to find out what we could have found out months ago. Historians will spend centuries debating what was trump's worst mistake, but I nominate that one as his worst.

We might get lucky, but that is looking more and more like a long shot. Beyond that, with a lot of hard work, over a long time, we can accomplish some amazing things. Biden did the first step, rejoining the WHO. Now we have to figure out how to produce tens of billions of vaccine doses. If that does not work, we start over and work hard for a few more years on another plan.
