Default US prosecutors Portland dropping almost all charges on rioters

In a switch of administrations, the US Attorney's office in Portland is dropping most of their cases against rioters there including at least sixteen (16) cases of felony assault on a federal officer--many of these on video as well.

David Bouchard admitted he put a Customs and Border Protection officer in a chokehold. Charles Comfort was indicted by a grand jury of civil disorder for twice charging at Portland Police Bureau officers and hitting them with a makeshift shield then kicking a third officer while being arrested. Both men faced federal charges stemming from their actions during a summer of more than 100 straight nights of often violent protests in Portland. But Bouchard and Comfort are among dozens of Portland federal arrestees whose cases were dismissed or are being deferred without so much as a day behind bars.

It would seem only those who were caught with the most absolute of proof are even being pushed for plea deals, the rest are simply being let go.

My suspicion is that this wholesale dropping of charges many of which are far worse, with equal or better evidence to that of the Capitol riot will be used in defense of Capitol rioters who will now argue that their prosecution is political, not criminal, in nature.

This is happening in so many places.....our leaders are destroying our cities and business people and doing everything they can to destroy the rule of law....the legitimacy of the law.

    Why are they doing that?
This illegal illegitimate regime that runs America is at fault...not me.... they do not represent me and I have long objected to their crimes against humanity.

What makes you think a legal defense will avail conservatives justice?

Hey, I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy in this. It's another case of the "Hillary defense." Rioters in Portland walk from the same charges leveled against rioters at the Capitol--and who often did worse than the Capitol rioters--but the federal persecutors are going full tilt to convict the later, now obviously in good part because of their politics not their crimes.

Also, note the total lack of pushback on this from the Lefties here...

If DEMOCRATS cared about their hypocrisy they wouldn't be DEMOCRATS, would they?

Agreed it would be a good strategy. OTOH, it appears the cases being dropped for budgetary reasons. If I were a state or Federal employee attacked by these assholes, I'd be pissed.

Let's hope money if found to prosecute the criminals.

See this is where your low IQ and drugs make you delusional trying to equate the rioters with the insurrection at the Capitol is literally one of the dumbest inbred things ever

    From the link:
"“It’s offensive to all the men and women who risked their lives in Portland for 90 to 120 days or even longer in some cases, being attacked night after night after night,” said Chad Wolf, the acting Secretary of Homeland Security under President Trump.

Former federal prosecutor Alex Little says the Oregon U.S. Attorney’s Office was most likely overwhelmed.

“The prosecutors in that office, the number of prosecutors, that support, even the courthouse system, isn’t really set up to handle those sorts of numbers,” said Little.

Lisa Hay, the federal public defender in Oregon, has a slightly different take on the high number of cases being dismissed.

“I think the federal government went overboard in some of the ways they addressed these protests,” said Hay, “And what we’re seeing now is many of the cases that were brought because of the federal government’s overreach are now being dismissed.” "

May I recommend that you read Mein Kampf for a better understanding of the DemoKKKrat mindset?

    Spoiler:

The author put a bullet through his own brain in the end.

Actually, Mein Kampf is rather poorly written and most miss the major theme of it in the concept of Volksmeingeshaft which comes from the similar idea of Frontmeingeshaft. The later's closest analogy in American terms of English is "Band of brothers" in the sense of veterans of war. Hitler's principle idea wasn't racism--although that is present--but rather turning Germany into a close knit nation of like-minded people that excluded outsiders. That's the thread that runs through Mein Kampf.

The Left is replete with this thinking in various forms. They want to exclude anyone who thinks, acts, or looks different from themselves. That's why the Left is chock-a-block with myopic visionaries, racists, bigots, trolls, and blockheads.
