The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is extending the face mask requirement for individuals across all transportation networks throughout the United States, including at airports, onboard commercial aircraft, on over-the-road buses, and on commuter bus and rail systems through September 13.

TSA’s initial face mask requirement went into effect on February 1 with an expiration date of May 11.

Witnesses who saw a Asian man killed outside his apartment building Sunday night told police the killer lunged at the newlywed and stabbed him in the heart.

According to court documents, Bothell officers responded about 7:30 p.m. to multiple reports of an assault.

The victim, John Huynh, died in an ambulance at the scene.

A friend who was walking out of the building with Huynh said the alleged killer, 25-year-old Ian Williams, "gave them the middle finger" as they walked by because they weren't masked. Huynh asked the man whether he had waved or given him the finger.

Huynh's friend said he kept walking to the car while Huynh talked to the suspect. The friend said he then saw Williams pull out a knife and stab Huynh in the heart.

While officers were outside the building investigating, Williams' mother approached police and said her son was involved. She gave them a key to her apartment, where officers found the suspect in a bedroom.

Williams' mom later told police her son came into the apartment yelling that he'd just been "attacked by an anti-masker". He told her he wasn't hurt but that he thought he "hurt the other man" involved.

When questioned by police, he declined to provide a statement.

An Asian woman was ordered to take off her mask — and then hit in the head with a hammer — by a female stranger in Times Square on Sunday, one of two suspected hate crimes in Manhattan over the weekend.

The attack unfolded around 8:40 p.m. when the black suspect snapped at her 31-year-old victim, "Take off your mask!" in front of 411 W. 42nd St., cops said Monday.

The attacker swung a hammer at the victim, hitting her on the left side of the face, according to police.

Recommends Indoor and Outdoor Double-Masking, Strict Social Distancing

The CDC has announced that summer camps may open for in-person activities this year, provided they take certain steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The CDC recently released new guidelines for the reopening of both day and overnight summer camps. The guidelines placed a large emphasis on face masks, vaccines, and social distancing.

“Consistent and layered use of multiple prevention strategies can help camps open safely for in-person activities; protect children, families, and staff; and slow the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19,” said the CDC.

The CDC acknowledged that children are less likely to get sick or die from COVID-19, but said that there is still a risk that they can spread the virus to others.

“Getting vaccinated as soon as the opportunity is available is an important way for camp operators and staff to keep from getting and spreading COVID-19” the CDC stated.

COVID-19 vaccines are currently not approved for children under 16 years of age, but trials are currently underway. The FDA is expected to authorize the use of the Pfizer vaccine for children ages 12-15 this week.

The CDC’s guidance on mask-wearing is particularly strict, requiring masks to be worn at all times, both inside and outside, except while eating or swimming.

Masks with two or more layers of fabric are recommended, and the CDC’s general guidelines on mask-wearing recommend two masks.

The CDC also recommended placing campers in cohorts, groups of campers that stay together throughout the day. Each cohort should stay 6 feet away from other cohorts, and members of a cohort should stay at least 3 feet away from each other.

The guidance discouraged close-contact and indoor sports, citing the increased risk of spreading COVID-19 in these situations.

Singing inside is also discouraged, as well as group activities where campers can’t be socially distanced.

The guidelines recommended that campers quarantine and test negative for COVID-19 before their arrival, and quarantine for one week and take a COVID-19 test upon their return (unless they are vaccinated).
