Default Oscar Grant - Shot and Killed by BART Police

This is one of the most fucked up things I've seen in a while. The link is to a local news story on the incident with cell phone video footage of the shooting:

    http://www.ktvu.com/video/18409133/index.html

It's unbelievable. And the cop hasn't been arrested. He resigned. I'm at a loss for words.

There were riots in the "town" all night. Destroying cars, black owned businesses among other things. Riot police out in full force. Multiple ghetto birds in the sky. Progressive hero and worse mayor ever Ron Dellums actually made a public appearance asking for restraint which achieved nothing.

Now BART police are different from the OPD. BART police don't know what the f*ck they are doing because they usually only have to deal with bums. It's the OPD that people hate and while not as corrupt as LAPD they do try and give LAPD a run for their money.

Holy crap. The kid was on the ground face down, two cops on him... what the hell did the cop even DRAW his gun for, let alone fire right into the kid. Cop should be put in jail for life. Period.

Yeah, I read about the riots. It's unfortunate. After seeing the video of the shooting though I'm not surprised. The cop pulled a gun on an unarmed black man that was face down on the ground and shot him in the back while standing directly above him. Unreal.

The incident is outragous and I understand the outrage. In this case though its against the BART police which I'm almost 100% sure is seperate from the OPD. There is no history of trouble with the BART police like there is the OPD. Any rioting is unfortunate but especially in downtown Oakland which is a city that is really really struggling right now with its image, visitors and everything and destroying black owned businesses to boot. Really sad.

That is outrageous. I hope that officer spends the rest of his life is prison.

    Agreed.

They're rioters. They're not going to be sensible. They'll direct their rage at pretty much whatever is in front of them.

Edit: Perhaps the real rage being directed at the OPD and the city of Oakland is the failure to arrest the guy.

Forgive the unwashed masses, but what is "the BART Police"?
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

Ok, the cop who shot him is a murderer, no question about it.

But is the other cop who held him down guilty of anything?

BART is our public transportation system throughout the Bay Area and it stands for Bay Area Rapid Transit. It has its own police force that sort of patrols the parking lots around each station as well as the lines themselves. There have been problems in the past with cars getting broken into in BART parking lots and then homeless peolpe sleeping in the BART station but never too much violence which is why this incident is truly shocking.

Ah, I thought they all had spiky hair and ran around saying "Don't have a cow, man!"

Well, they get "special" treatment and it is so very fantasmagorific.

Due to the fact he didn't disarm the cop that shot him, he should at the least be reprimanded for not disarming a known killer. I don't know that you could charge him with a crime unless you could prove he knew the other cop was going to fire.
