Then they don't get three more members of Congress.

Someone suggested exempting D. C. citizens from income tax and then they would have taxation without representation.

Probably little to nothing while adding a huge boom to the economy of the state selected. All the construction to house government workers, the restaurants and other venues the politicians would want, road building, you-name-it, in support of the new government buildings and infrastructure would be a huge boon to states that are right now economic small fry. Think of the money saved when Amtrak ends much of its east coast service because nobody's using it any more. Or, the increased revenues that air travel into the new capitol would occur.

You end up with one more failed Democrat city state on the East coast while the mid west flourishes.

You've shown me you're bigger than just a big douchebag, so there's that.
Idk what to make of you, man.

Am I to take that you're opposed to traitors being arrowed through their fucking faces?

Which is what this is all about. Not fair representation, but to shift the balance of power through tricks and lies.

LOL. I like the idea of no income tax better than DC statehood. OTOH, the sociological impact of carving out a "tax free zone" would result in all the richest people in the country moving there and gentrifying DC.

One would think if you are in a postion of power and you are arguing against an issue at least you would take the time to know what you are talking about, and Scalise is the number two GOP man in the House
The un American GOP couldn't justify or argue its way out of a paper bag as a result of joining tRump's act of inciting insurrection against the U.S. Capitol in D.C. and conspiring to wage war against the fair and lawful 2020 electoral process. This in order to do the bidding of foreign enemies on the lawlessly hacked in and former fake so-called president tRump's deplorable and un American favor, and as the seditious and treasonous GOP continues waging war against Democracy and the common decency of humanity. When it comes to DC statehood to which the obstructionist and seditious GOP insurgency are all against, apparently one way Democrats can get around the expected GOP act of waging war on this effort is as follows:

The Senate is split 50/50 with Vice President Kamala Harris as the tie-breaker. But it takes 60 senators to break a concerted filibuster attempt. Senate Democrats could vote to tweak the filibuster rules and slip the statehood issue through a loophole — but that would require total unity and some moderate Democrats have expressed opposition to that strategy.

Yet for now, though, Democrats and statehood advocates are celebrating their House victory.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser tied the statehood issue to America’s ongoing reckoning over police brutality and longstanding issues of racial injustice.

“This vote comes at a critical time when Americans nationwide are eager to deliver on the promise of liberty and justice for all,” Bowser said in a statement. “For centuries, an incremental approach to equality in America has delayed this promise for too many. Now is the time for bold action.”
