Default The U.S. solar industry posted record growth in 2020 despite Covid, report finds

U.S. solar installations reached a record high in 2020 as favorable economics, supportive policies and strong demand in the second half of the year offset the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Installations grew 43% year over year, reaching a record 19.2 gigawatts of new capacity, according to a report released Tuesday from the Solar Energy Industries Association and Wood Mackenzie.

In the fourth quarter alone, the U.S. added just over 8 GW of capacity — a quarterly record. That’s more than the capacity added in all of 2015, which was 7.5 GW. One gigawatt is enough to power roughly 190,000 homes. The U.S. currently has 97.2 GW of total solar capacity installed, enough to power roughly 17.7 million homes, according to SEIA.

California, Texas and Florida were the top three states for annual solar additions for the second year running. Virginia and North Carolina rounded out the top five.

The report also looked for the first time at growth forecasts through 2030, projecting that the U.S. solar market will quadruple from current levels by the end of the decade.

The growth is expected to be spread across markets as customers, utilities, states and corporations push to decarbonize the grid.

Let’s face it, guys: We’re done.

It is a tragedy that so much of the work that so many men and women toiled at for so long to make this a better country, and a better world, has been thrown away, leaving us all in such needless peril.

This is why our separation in all but name is necessary.

The solar industry is normally used to refer to those who design and manufacture solar products, and industry that has failed to compete with international sources.

The Case for Taking Back Solar
Installing a lot more solar is part of the path to clean, renewable energy. But we also need to be producing the entire supply chain.

Which calls into question the argument from the Regressive Left that spending tons of money on our kids and grandkids and greatgrandkids credit care to "save the planet" by changing power sources will actually be great for American jobs and for American leadership in the world.

The D's who vote in leaders for their cities who are clearly out to destroy the cities and who refuse to look out for the safety of their citizens really do need to have their heads examined.

So, solar has added an insignificant amount of new capacity to their previous insignificant amount...

All you have to do is look at the places where solar and wind are taking a bigger share of the electrical market to see what absolute losers they are. The most costly electricity by nation and even within the US by state are those that have the most wind and solar. If you want uneconomical and unaffordable electricity push for more wind and solar.

It should be stunning that as we march to taking Trillions in debt to "Save The Planet" we dont hear anything about Germany's very expensive failure in their program to change energy sources....which damns to Hell our political class, our experts, and our so called journalists.

And the citizens, for allowing this bad performance at best, abuse against us I say.

Except, "renewables" drive the price of energy UP, way up. They are economic losers big time.

If solar panels were FREE the cost of solar energy production would still not be cost effective due to the inefficiency of the total system when using it. Solar is a HUGE loser and always will be a HUGE LOSER.

No, particularly not from you since it's obvious you know nothing about energy production, distribution, or "alternative / renewable" energy beyond some vague Leftist propaganda talking points.
