    Bad cop; manslaughter.

I'm more interested in why the judge didn't declare a mistrial however.

I guess he didn't want his house burned down, literally and figuratively.

Because he simply did not care about Floyd's life. Floyd was an "other'. Not a human being deserving respect or caring about at all. Even other cops wanted him to stop.

The prosecution does not need to present a reason for a killing, and the charges did not require the killing to even be intentional. As long as Chauvin did not care, that was enough.

But both Chauvin and Floyd worked together, and Chauvin was known to hold a grudge for minor or imagined slights. It is possible that it was actual intentional murder.

Chauvin had a chance to kill a black man who could and would have killed him in a one on one fight.
    He took it.
    He got his kill.
He destroyed his own life in so doing.

One wonders, however, how good his own life could have been anyway.
He certainly has a pathetic look to him.

Since the charges will all "without intent," there is no "why" by definition.

    LOL. Try again.

2nd degree murder requires intent to commit bodily harm. So Chauvin intended to inflect bodily harm on Floyd during the commission of a felony (assault). While he may not have intended to kill Floyd, to suggest that the charge is 'without intent' is laughable.

I suspect intentional murder was a bridge too far for the prosecution. It would have been almost impossible to prove beyond a reasonable doubt. We'll never know for sure, but the callous disregard demonstrated by Chauvin says all I need to know. He will almost certainly spent most if not all of the rest of his life in prison.

In other words, this was a political decision.

Id say it was for two reasons, the reasoning for the request was not legally sufficient (95% of requests for mistrial are denied) and The State had already invested so much time and money into the trial, why not get the verdict, and allow it to be appealed to a higher authority rather than start all over again at huge cost.

I think he did it because he has likely always had an inferiority complex and he became a cop to inflict power on others, this was the ultimate infliction of power.

This was a very good judge (his rhetoric about Waters aside). He didn't declare a mistrial because he didn't believe there was sufficient reason to grant it. He was not messing around (I'd point to his affirmative statement that if the Carbon monoxide test results were even hinted at in rebuttal, he would declare a mistrial). So I don't think he just let this go for expediency. Just my take. There isn't going to be a mistrial. The tards will be disappointed again, and they will whine and cry that everyone is afraid of black people. It is what it is.
