I mean, sure - but I'd have more respect for the right's position if they didn't downplay 1/6 so much. At minimum, that was a riot.

DeSantis is pretty shrewd, though. If a Republican has to win next time, we could do worse. It's good to see the right at least starting to lean back toward rational people.

All we’re looking for is Trumpism—if it’s without Trump, so be it.

We don’t ‘down play’ 1/6. We tamp down on the hyperbole. It wasn’t an insurrection.

Trumpism is a cult of personality. I don't really know what "Trumpism" is without Trump, aside from policy on the borders.

From what I've learned about him (and I've checked into it, because he's a likely frontrunner), DeSantis is pretty moderate overall. He panders to Trump supporters, but his actual positions are much more palatable to the purple crowd. I love how he prioritizes the environment, which I guess is a no brainer in FL, but also a welcome change from Trump's policies.

I don't think it's hyperbole to call 1/6 an attempted insurrection. But it's hard to find conservatives - or even conservative TV networks - who will even call it a riot. The "Trumpism" take is that it was all hugs & kisses.

Trumpism is unquestioned loyalty to whatever Trump wants. There is no such thing as Trumpism without Trump. There are no policy positions, there are no legislative proposals. DeSantis is attempting to play on the suckers who believed whatever Trump told them to believe. But DeSantis doesn't control the cult. Trump does.

Trumpism is economic nationalism. Puts American workers ahead of global interests. Puts actual citizens interests ahead of economic migrants interests. Amongst some other things.

Until someone is formally charged with insurrection—insurrection remains hyperbole. It was a riot and everyone but the fringe right has no problem calling it—what it was.

You are correct on both points, pretty hard to take serious those that felt Jan 6th was just another peaceful protest, and DeSantis is most definitely running for President in 2024 and this type action is geared toward those ends

1/6 *was* a mostly peaceful protest, right?

That’s the established metric. But a group of rioters splintered off and walked in/broke into the Capitol and—no point in rehashing it.

It was what it was. A riot.

Couple of notes there, for beginners, it was anything but a peaceful protest, the video alone of people beating Capitol police while others cheer them on or did nothing isn't a "peaceful" protest

And under no circumstances can an attack on the nation's very seat of Government to prevent that Government for fulfilling it's Constitutional responsibilities for the purpose to overturn a legitimate election a "riot' by small group of "rioters"

No, you are either too dim to understand what Trump is all about, or you are lying yet again.
This illegal illegitimate regime that runs America is at fault...not me.... they do not represent me and I have long objected to their crimes against humanity.

Yes, and they are not interested in listening to people who like Trump to figure out the truth or they just assume that people who like Trump are as big of liars as they are so there is no point in listening to people who like Trump if they want to figure out what is going on.

But we are still left with the fact that Trump took his glide down the escalator just about 6 years ago, and they STILL give no indication of understanding what is going on.

That takes a special kind of stupid.

    Or Liar.

    Not really lol.

Listen to nothing but Joe Scarborough or Rachel Maddow go on about Orange Man Bad—then it becomes a case of being misinformed.

Listening to the wrong people is proof of lack of education...I really fail to see your point.

Chump: Person it is easy to lie to, because they are stupid.
