Yes, and correct me if I’m wrong but once the case goes to jury the jury can make their decision for any reason or no reason as long as the decision is unanimous.
with the exception that there is this thing called judgment notwithstanding the verdict (to be honest I don't remember if that applies outside civil law and I am too lazy to look).......if a judge believes the jury is out of whack with what they reasonably could decide he can void the verdict.......
