So in the five to ten years it takes to recruit new people, train them and put them on the streets what happens to crime in the meantime? I just think that's hopelessly naive, it's the same logic that led to that fool Khan and the huge increase in knife, acid and gun crime in London. Khan cut back on stop and search drastically and those crimes shot up. Only people who live in leafy suburbs and do not see the grim reality can afford to think like that, in my view.
' Might ', maggot, not ' must '. The underlying concern is correct, however, and presents the opportunity, yet again, of warning that the acceptance of Neo-Zionist fascism and racism- and your own support for it is worth a mention - emboldens racists and fascists elsewhere, a warning borne out by the rise of racism and fascism the world over.

Good lord it doesn't take that long to recruit and train new people! In the US it's maybe 20 weeks at the academy. Most of the crime here is not gang-related, it's local one on one. Robbery, assault, domestic stuff. I've seen comments by others from foreign countries who have the impression that the US is one big gun-toting crime wave. Don't get taken in by the fear-mongers who preach this drivel. We have our problems but they're not dystopian.

It takes several years at least to go from a rookie to an experienced street cop on the mean streets of Chicago, LA, San Francisco, New York etc.
Shootings and murders skyrocketed in 2020 throughout the Big Apple, the NYPD said as it released year-end crime data late Wednesday.
The number of shootings soared 97% from 777 in 2019 to 1,531 in 2020 and murders jumped by 44% from 319 to 462, according to the NYPD. It's rapidly returning to the bad old days of the 70s and 80s.
Every job has a learning curve, cops included. Departments don't just throw rookies on the street to flail away, they partner them with experienced cops. How much of what you're quoting has to do with ordinary turnover?
The question is why is there an increase in shootings and murders and to say it's due to BLM or antifa is simplistic. How are these increases broken down and what about all the strain on people due to the pandemic. It's complicated.
