DARK AGES SUCK!

Why did union schoolteacher Mikael Bucknavage get to walk free without bail and no supervision after assaulting an NYPD sergeant during a “peaceful protest” on the Upper East Side last week?
Store windows were smashed, cars vandalized, outdoor diners menaced and “Kill cops” graffiti was spray-painted everywhere during the melee.

The impetus for the officers quitting seemed to be the death of George Floyd and the unrest that followed; between May 25 and June 24, 2020, a whopping 272 officers left the force in one month.
2,600 officers quit and 2,746 filed for retirement, according to the New York Post. The 5,346 officers who left the force were nearly 2,300 more than left the force in 2019, when 1,509 officers quit and 1,544 filed for retirement.
This year, over 830 officers have left the NYPD. Joseph Giacalone, a retired NYPD sergeant and adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, warned, “Cops are forming a conga line down at the pension section and I don’t blame them. NYPD cops are looking for better jobs.”
In March, the New York City Council voted for various police reform bills, among which was one to eliminate giving qualified immunity to the NYPD, thus permitting citizens to sue police officers.

A man was arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection to an attack in February.
The man was one of two individuals that attacked a Chicago police detective who was investigating a previous homicide in the city's South Shore neighborhood. The second offender is still being sought.
Police said two men armed with a gun and knife attacked the officer from behind around 7 p.m. in the 7700-block of South Yates and began physically assaulting him while rummaging through his pockets.
The suspects fled when the detective's partner rushed to help him, police said. One of the suspects was taken into custody in the 2300-block of E. 75th Street. The other suspect remains at large.
Chicago police said the detective, a 26-year veteran of the department, was taken to an area hospital in good condition with injuries to his head and neck.
