Despite Trump's constant fearmongering over shutdowns, suicides actually declined in 2020"

During last year’s second presidential debate, Donald Trump made certain to note how horribly things were going on his watch:

“We have to open our country,” the big, dumb adobe mud hut brayed. “We're not going to have a country. You can't do this, we can't keep this country closed. It is a massive country with a massive economy. People are losing their jobs, they're committing suicide. There's depression, alcohol, drugs at a level that nobody's ever seen before. There's abuse, tremendous abuse. We have to open our country. You know I've said it often—the cure cannot be worse than the problem itself, and that's what's happening.”

As we all know, the only thing Trump was actually concerned about was his reelection. I know this because nothing would have contributed more to our citizens’ flagging mental health than seeing Trump’s clammy, ramshackle corpse trundled up to the inauguration dais for another four years of ungodly terror.

Of course, Trump continually made a big deal out of all the suicides that were supposedly happening—again, on his watch—as a result of COVID-related closures. But, as usual, Trump was wrong. "

tRump's ass kissers getting it misconstrued again at having their heads so far up tRump's ass they recklessly omit facts. Actually suicides should have declined for that matter as a result of tRump and his GOPer mob conspiring to commit an act of covid suicide murder of over 500,000 Americans, and Putin's b!tch tRump was not legally elected in the first place:

tRump's disastrous legacy as a lawlessly hacked in and fake one term atrocity against humanity resulted in adding insult at basically mocking the covid dead Americans in his deranged form of self amusement:

How can we honor the more than half-million Americans who lost their lives to COVID-19 while marking former President Donald Trump’s shameless failure to “preserve, protect and defend” this country and its Constitution?

Easy. Let’s bury the dead at Mar-a-Lago.

This small measure of justice would have an obvious historical precedent. Arlington, the former home of Robert E. Lee that is now Arlington National Cemetery, became a final resting place for Union soldiers in the spring 1864 — after 82,000 soldiers died in one month of fighting. Who could argue this wasn’t a just punishment? Lee had abandoned his post in the U.S. Army to lead the army of what Frederick Douglass called the “slaveholders' rebellion.”

Lee’s treachery was obvious. Trump’s crimes against his country, however, are far more devious, and continue as he remains dedicated to undermining our democracy. The ex-president tried to refuse to give up his power, even after he was defeated in a fair election. And you cannot dissect the ex-president’s incitement against Congress, his vice president and our constitutional order from his monstrous approach to the pandemic."

While deaths jumped 17.7 percent overall in the U.S. last year, suicides decreased for the third consecutive year, according to preliminary CDC data published in JAMA.

Certainly does call into question the argument that we must remove guns from society in order to deal with suicide, which is the argument of all those who lump in suicide with homicide when they talk about so called "gun violence".
This illegal illegitimate regime that runs America is at fault...not me.... they do not represent me and I have long objected to their crimes against humanity.

Would the alleged 17.7% increase in deaths have occurred anyway as the oldest Boomers turned 75 in 2020?

As I’ve mentioned about 20 times now lol, nearly 50% of Covid deaths have occurred in the nursing home population where the average ‘length of stay’ is 13 months.

You can figure it out from there. This is a good example of what Bill Maher was talking about: all the covidians know is panic porn so they are ‘unknowing’ about much of the statistics.

And I’m skeptical about the OP: someone is going to have to convince how forcing businesses to close; forcing healthy people to stay apart from one another; forcing healthy kids to be separated from their peers for months on end—how can all that NOT lead to more unnecessary deaths in the form of suicide?

Not to mention, a rise in depression and substance abuse. Someone convince me.

    Good luck.

Spoken like the true right wing hack:

Men who own handguns are eight times more likely to die of gun suicides than men who don’t own handguns, and women who own handguns are 35 times more likely than women who don’t.

Owning a handgun is associated with a dramatically elevated risk of suicide, according to new Stanford research that followed 26 million California residents over a 12-year period.

The higher suicide risk was driven by higher rates of suicide by firearm, the study found.

Men who owned handguns were eight times more likely than men who didn’t to die of self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Women who owned handguns were more than 35 times more likely than women who didn't to kill themselves with a gun.

While prior studies have found higher rates of suicide among people who live in homes with a gun, these studies have been relatively small in scale and the risk estimates have varied. The Stanford study is the largest to date, and it’s the first to track risks from the day of an owner’s first handgun acquisition."

    https://med.stanford.edu/news/all-ne...cide-risk.html

"More than 41,500 people died by gun violence this year nationwide, which is a record, according to the independent data collection and research group Gun Violence Archive. That included more than 23,000 people who died by suicide.

Annual firearm deaths have never exceeded 40,000 since at least 1981, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The agency has not yet reported numbers in 2019 or 2020, but provisional 2019 data suggests firearm deaths may have approached but did not exceed 40,000.

With regard to gun homicides, specifically, the U.S. has historically reported a rate about 25 times higher than other wealthy nations.

Cities across the nation – including Milwaukee; Indianapolis; Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio; Greensboro, North Carolina; Kansas City, Missouri; Louisville, Kentucky; and Trenton, New Jersey – have already surpassed their all-time records for homicides this year. Others, such as Philadelphia and Fort Worth, Texas, are seeing their highest numbers in decades."

Bull shit. You only "care" about what fits your peculiar ideology at the time, not whether something is true/false. And that is a sign of the mental illness that all right wingers suffer from. Next time try disputing the facts, not presenting your own illogical "conclusions".

    Interesting.

My assumption is that for the years 2020 - 2045, we're going to see a massive spike & then drop off as the Boomer generation passes in that period.

That the DemoKKKrats weaponized this statistical inevitability is no surprise, as they're deranged psychopaths.
