Yes, but with an interesting difference. The flu has new variants to infect us, but once you get a variant, you are almost certainly immune for life. It appears that Covid-19 immunity fades quickly. Best guess is that immunity from getting the disease fades after five months. Immunity by using the vaccine probably lasts a bit longer, but not much.

We may be looking at the loss of years worth of life expectancy, and while maybe not forever, it taking decades to defeat this. Well, there is no time like the present to start. However long it takes, it takes.
