Traffic officers. If you were not such a fucking moron, you would have seen that explained in the text I posted.

Dude, your OP said to get rid of those:

Many of the deaths garnering media attention in recent years resulted from armed police officers enforcing traffic violations, even minor ones. A Minnesota police officer pulled over Philando Castile for a broken taillight, then fired seven shots at him. A Texas state trooper stopped Sandra Bland for not signaling when she changed lanes. Three days later, she was dead in a jail cell.

According to a Washington Post database, about 11 percent of all fatal shootings by police in 2015 occurred during traffic stops; Black people accounted for a disproportionate share of those deaths.

As University of Arkansas law professor Jordan Blair Woods argues in a forthcoming Stanford Law Review article, new traffic safety agencies, staffed by unarmed employees, could enforce routine traffic laws with less violence and damage to communities of color. Police involvement would be limited to dangerous situations.

First, your OP didn't say so.

Second, "weaponized police officers"? WTF kind of liberal bullshit is that?

Third, typical liberal to want to increase the size of government with taxpayer dollars.

Lastly, I'm guessing you want all local "traffic officers" and State Troopers to be unarmed. How many women cops would love to stop a carload of drunks at night without a sidearm?

why should anyone stop for a traffic officer? what happens if they don't stop?
A sad commentary on we, as a people, and our viewpoint of our freedom can be summed up like this. We have liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans, yet those very people look at Constitutionalists as radical and extreme.................so those liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans must believe that the constitution is radical and extreme.

    this is a bad idea.

people respect traffic laws because of the fear of being stopped. having computers and cameras send tickets through mail would not work.

plus it hides the cronification of traffic enforcement.

There would be police officers who are not armed with a weapon. We need to stop using guns to enforce expired registration tags.

You missed the point that real officers are on traffic duty, just without a gun.

Again, read the article I posted. It is not advocating with real officers on traffic duty.
