Imagine this.
In a previously religious society like ours was, where the family was the rock and the cornerstone, Communists came along and discouraged Christian ideals and devalued the family.
So that Mrs. Hole married casually with no special qualms about getting a divorce. Or, maybe she never felt any compelling reason to get married AT ALL.
And being on the small side, having a last name of "Hole" probably invited people to insult him. And that filled him with rage until he figured he would 'go out' in a blaze of infamy.

If you were a better person, you would not have to force a woman to marry you, and stay married to you. "Mrs. Hole" would want to be married to you.
I am sure my wife could walk away with a nice bit of alimony from our marriage. She is a smart, well educated person, who could make a good living without me. The reason she stays married to me is she wants to be married to me.

I was on the final glide path to matrimony with one gal, until she told me how she intended to raise any children we might have, as atheists.
It was completely in sync with the Leftist social fashion of the day, but after I heard that, I reluctantly had to tell her I couldn't do that to our kid(s) and on that point, we said good-bye.
I couldn't go for that.
