Default 4 ideas for Supreme Court reform

    Term limits

All federal judges have lifetime appointments. Even some who have pushed for expanding the Supreme Court have floated term limits as an alternative. Norm Ornstein has been talking about this for many years, even before the current fervor built for overhauling the court.

The number floated for Supreme Court justices is often 18 years.

I don’t think someone should have that much power in an unelected position for that long,” former attorney general Eric H. Holder Jr. has said. “I think that three senatorial terms, 18 years, would be enough for a justice.”

I don't personally believe in term limits.
I'd rather Biden simply announce who his hand-picked nine new members of the SCOTUS are and then see what anybody can do about it.

We can do both. There is nothing special about judges to leave them on the job until they die.

Perhaps so. Just notice, however, that many people want to change almost every aspect of the constitution while proclaiming to love it.

We can't amend it during a polarized culture war.
Yet nobody wants a page one rewrite, i.e., a new republic or multiple ones.

Americans have a big problem with reality. They think that they can "wish" a new reality into being.

Well, nothing in Constitution states how many Supreme Court justices there can be.

It not about them being special. It is supposed to put them out of the politician's power. They can't fire them, cut their salaries, or do anything to them if they do not like their votes. Then they will presumably decide based on law.

Im sure its just a coincidence that certain people want to add FOUR new Judges to the SC. Not 1, 2, or 3.....no that just wouldnt do. It has to be four for some odd reason. Must be something special about that number....

Just a year ago I was labeled an alarmist for claiming that the Revolution fully intends to pack the court.

    I was right yet again.
The bottom line is that conservatives cant admit to themselves the Evil they have allowed to romp on their watch.

    This is going to hurt.

They want to turn it into another legislative body with a leftist majority.

Then we’ll be the United States of California. Ain’t it great? Where the hell will we move to?
Coup has started. First of many steps. Impeachment will follow ultimately~WB attorney Mark Zaid, January 2017

Yep, it will take away what the reds achieved by cheating. I agree, it is the perfect number. Rightys are upset because this is exactly what they would do if situations were reversed.

Same for President, Senator, Congress, Governor, Mayor, any public office. Nothing special about a judge.

Being "unelected" is not the issue. Being elected means you cater to public opinion rather than the Constitution or law.

Justices don't really gain power with seniority (except in assigning opinions). If term limits for the SC are a good idea it is because of issues with old age.

I don't see what is special about a judge.

All those offices are elected except the SC--that makes them special.
