Forensic expert testifies that Chauvin's knee was on Floyd's neck.

Which defense witness should the jury believe?
Videos showed Chauvin's knee on his neck.

Except the defense use of force expert says you can't trust the video or any pictures because... well... pictures distort what is happening or some such nonsense.

Meanwhile the defense forensic expert says the video shows Chauvin's knee on Floyd's neck.

Falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus is a Latin phrase meaning "false in one thing, false in everything." At common law, it is the legal principle that a witness who testifies falsely about one matter is not credible to testify about any matter.

I do not think the defense was incompetent. But he had a hard time proving Chauvin's actions were justified.

Chauvin was told that if he testified, his record would be told to the jurors. He has had 18 complaints on record, some quite violent. Witnesses to what he did in those incidents could be called. It was obvious why he would not take the stand.

You never want to testify in your own criminal trial. If the prosecution used that line of questioning, though, the defense would simply start putting cops on the stand, and asking them how many complaints have been made against them. Then they would get the chief, the head of IA, and some people in records to testify about the spread of complaints as a department.
