This was a very real threat and they acted appropriately here. as you said it was "suicide by cop" I agree with you sir. the cops in this case should not have bet their life on the possibility of it being real or not.

I'm sorry but an Airsoft gun with our without the orange tip looks too real to be brandishing when confronted by a law enforcement official. Sorry for the kid's family but I can't fault the officer.

It's not about if it's his fault. It's about if the gun looked real. Big Money asked a legit question... did the boy remove the orange tip or paint over it?

I think big money isn't taking into account the stress inducement in such a situation and that an all black gun with an orange tip is going to be hard to see at that distance and less noticeable under stress of the situation.

I think I touched later upon that, you are correct under high pressure, that detail is not going to be noted at the range this happened, perhaps not even in arms length. Also I pointed out out in a later post that anyone could paint the Flash hider/muzzle brake orange, and that indeed, with those facts, you have the rest of your life to win a gun fight.
