Brooklyn Center, Minn., police chief Tim Gannon said Monday he believed the fatal police shooting of Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old Black man, during a traffic stop in the Minneapolis suburb was an accident that resulted from the officer discharging her firearm when she meant to deploy her taser.

Oh, then it is OK.
Yeah. Sure.
Is one able to tell the difference?

I see that you edited your post. I figured it was what you meant.
As to your question, no the chief didn't say it was okay. Jack's point was that it's pretty odd for the chief to claim that the cop confused the real gun for a taser gun.
Is that even possible?
Edit - I meant Nordberg.
Just stop for a moment and think, you're a cop in this current climate in America and you have to stop a person and then find out they have a warrant and must be arrested. Then that person won't just comply but starts to resist. I have to imagine a shit load of things is now going through your mind. Is it possible? I'd say hell yes. We have all made mistakes under circumstances that were a lot less stressful.
This will come down to training.
I was taught to always carry the taser on the non-shooting side of my gunbelt for this very reason.
You get surgeons with all the time in the world to prep for an operation. All the assistants he needs. The leg to be amputated is painted purple.
But still the wrong limb is amputated.
Nobody ever thinks of criminally charging a doctor, but the cop who has a split second to make a decision is pilloried before the whole world for slipping up.

But they have been intensively trained and so used to the feeling and the weights of a real gun and a taser gun. I have never handled a police taser gun so that's why I am asking.
It's like asking if it's possible to confuse a gun with a nerf gun under confusion and strain. I know I am joking but that's basically the gist of the question.
