In my view, fuck a cop, unless he demonstrates a proper, civil, respectful demeanor I have very little to say to him. Legally, I don’t have to say anything. License and registration is what they get. If going to court is necessary, I didn’t talk to him because of his aggressive behavior. I know a lot of cops, who advise me of what I am legally obligated to do
The first thing they do is try to get you to confess. "Do you know why I pulled you over?" The hope here is that you will say, "I was going 40 MPH over the speed limit" or some other incriminating thing... "Well, I'm high and weaving..." you know something like that.

    Always say, "No, officer, why?"

The story goes they didn't see plates on the vehicle. I expect they followed, didn't see a temp tag and pull a stop. The two police, probably the senior asshole who used the pepper spray, jumped the gun and overreacted. This should have been routine. Windsor will seek a quick settlement and promise not to do it again.

The initial stop was a request to exit the vehicle. That resulted in ... no response. It went downhill after that.

What car thief rides around with no tag?

That's like asking to get pulled over.

    Probably almost never happens.

I bet 99.999% of all stolen cars have a tag on them.

That means this cop, in deciding to escalate this to a 'felony stop,' is thinking he has the one in a thousand cases of somebody who steals a car and takes the tag off the back, or steals a car which has no tag on it at all. The odds are there is a perfectly innocent explanation for why there is no tag on the back of the car.

He needed to look harder for the temp tag.

That was the mistake that sent this whole thing careening in the wrong direction.

When cars are stolen from car lots, do you think thieves put license plates on them?

Do you think a plate falls off occasionally and a cop pulls them over to make them aware?

    You shouldn't bet. You're a loser.

    Look harder? Seriously? DUH!!
Maybe he was pulled over for the cop to take a closer look?

So pulling someone over without a license plate is a mistake?
    Damn, are you an idiot....
Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it.
