"EXCITED DELIRIUM SYNDROME"...WATCH THE OLD LOONEY TUNES CARTOON BELOW
I chose the Tasmanian Devil to illustrate "EXCITED DELIRIUM SYNDROME", because I am Australian, and Tasmania is the name of the Australian state where Tasmanian Devils live (Yes, they are real animals, and yes, they are pretty "aggro", but not quite as over-the-top as "Tassie", the cartoon Tasmanian Devil is depicted to be).
The behaviour of cartoon character, "Tassie" in the video above, is like the behaviour of a human adult who has Excited Delirium Syndrome (ExDS). The behavioural symptoms of EDS are: (1) Psychomotor agitation (cannot remain physical and mental calm, tranquil); (2) aggression; (3) delirium (severe confusion, inability to think, speak or move normally);(4) shouting; (5) fear/ anxiety; (6) paranoia; (7) bizarre behaviour; (8) super-human strength; (9) possible attempts at violence; (10) abnormally high body temperature, (11) sweating.
There is a video from the body cam that one of Derek Chauvin's colleagues was wearing on the day that they ran into George Floyd. The video footage cover the time from when the police first went into the "CUP" corner shop in Minneapolis where a sales assistant showed them the counterfeit $20 bill that Floyd had tendered to pay for a packet of cigarettes, all the way through to Floyd's death in custody, and even the later attempts to ressucitate him by a paramedic in the back of an emergency ambulance. If you watch this body cam video footage, you should find that you can check off most of the symptom of ExDS in Floyd's behavious
Althoung the American Medical Association (AMA) and American Psychological Association (APA) do not acknowledge ExDS as an official medical condition, the AMA recognizes that ExDS "is a widely accepted entity in forensic pathology". Moreover, the American professinal associations that represent Emergency Doctors and Medical Examiners both say that ExDS is very real.
According to the Medical Examiner's autopsy report, George Floyd DID NOT DIE FROM STRANGULATION or ASPHYXIATION. In fact the autopsy showed NO TRAUMA AT ALL TO THE BODY.
This means that when Derek Chauvin applied the knee - to -neck restraint technique for the approxamately 9 minutes that he did, this was not the primary cause of Floyd's, because, as I just mentioned above) the Medical Examiner says that strangulation or asphysxiation (deprivation of oxygen, for ex, choking). When someone is stragled or choked to death, there are tell-tales sign left on/in the body, for any competent Medical Examiner these signs would be impossible to overlook or confuse with any other cause of death.
ExDS and DRUG ABUSE
Persons who die of ExDS almost always have psychostimulant drugs, like methylamphetamine, cocaine, PCP ("Angel Dust") in their system and a history of drug abuse. The first thing we know for certain is that Floyd had a history of drug abuse. Secondly, the Medical Examiner's toxicology reports show that Floyd had a potent psychostimulant drug, methylamphetamine ("Crystal Meth) in his blood , plus, a shit-load of Fentanyl - (enough to kill an elephant) - which is a synthethic opioid drug that is at least 100x more potent than heroin. Over 100,000 Americans have died of Fentanyl overdoses in the past two (I think ?) years. Anyway, it is deadly when it is abused and it kills people who take too much of it by stopping their hearts (cardiac arrest).
I think what happened is that Floyd has shot up some methylamphetamine and Fentanyl not long ( an hour ?, two hours? it's impossible to know exactly) before he bought the packet cigarettes from the "CUP" store with a counterfeit $20 note. The girl who sold him the cigarettes said that he was totally "off his face" ("Drug-fucked) and could "not control himself." When she discovers the $20 bill Floyd gave her is bogus, she rings the cops, and before long Derek Chauvijn and Co. arrive and confirm the note is counterfeit. The girl tells the cops that Floyd is still sitting in his car across the street, so cops go over to the car and ask Floyd to get out. THIS IS WHERE THE ACTION STARTS AND ITS ALL RECORDER ON THE BODY CAM OF ONE OF THE COPS WHO WAS ON THE SCENE WITH CHAUVIN. IF YOU WATCH IT YOU'LL SEE FLOYD DISPAYS MOST OF THE HALLMARK SYMPTOMS OF ExDS
PHYSICAL RESTRAINT IN CUSTODY AND ExDS ARE WELL - KNOWN TO RESULT IN SUDDEN DEATH
THere are lots of cases where people who have ExDS attract the attention of police. That is, some one rings up the cops and says "There a maniac running around on my street, he's acting wierd and looks pretty pissed off and aggressive. I'm worried he could be dangerous, could you come and check him out. So that's how the police get involved. In Chauvin's case, he was sitting in his car, totally fucked-up on Crystal Meth and Fentanyl. He he sees the cops knocking on the window of his car, he knows that he's been caught passing a counterfeit, and due to the drugs in his system, he panics and this triggers the ExDS. Floyds refuses to comply with any of the instructions the police give him, and struggles furiously against being hand-cuffed or told to place himself in the back of a patrol car. One of the cops with Chauvin can be heard on the cop-cam video saying "I wonder if he's (Floyd) got ExD?" When individuals with ExDS are taken into custody by the police and restrained, the constantly struggle against the constraint. So when Floyd was restrained by Chauvin's knee on his neck, he was still physically "struggling" by tensing his muscles, although you could not see this exertion on the video of Chauvin pinning him down with his knee. If you'll excuse the analogy, it's like sitting on the toilet trying to do a shit but having really bad constipation. You are putting in a tremendous amount of muscular effort - indeed every muscle of your body is being strenuously exerted - but if someone were to walk into your bathroom they would just see you sitting still on the crapper (NB: That's how Elvis Pressley died. Elvis was taking a lot of morphine-based drugs before he died; in fact he was addicted to them. These drugs cause REALLY BAD constipation. So, Elvis was found dead in his toilet. It was determined (at autopsy) "The King" was severely constipated, and it appears he was trying to squeeze out a poop - or "strangle a darkie" as we say in Australia - but the constipation he had from the opioid drugs frustrated his efforts. So he kept trying to squeeze harder and harder ander until, tragically, the terrific stress on his circulatory system caused him to suffer a cardiac arrest.
That's basically how it is believed that persons who have ExDS, can die suddenly, in particular when they are restrained in police custody.
In Floyd's case the Fentanyl he had in his system would have greatly increased his risk for sudden death ExDS, because Fentanyl in large doses is cardiotoxix (kill by cardiac arrest) . Also, Floyd had two underlying heart conditions that are associated with sudden death from ExDS,namely chronic hypertension and atherosclerosis (serious).
There's no way that Derek Chauvin should be convicted on any of the three charges he his facing. If he is convicted of any: say 3rd degree murder or second degree homicide it will be a purely political stitch-up.
