Wrong. It was the brainchild of Harry S. Truman, who Democrats these days would call a right wing fanatic.

"Johnson wanted to recognize Truman, who, in 1945, had become the first president to propose national health insurance, an initiative that was opposed at the time by Congress."

Harry Truman was a Democrat and was FDR's Vice President.

He's not one of yours; he desegregated the military, so he's not endeared to Conservatives.

In fact, William F. Buckley and Irving Kristol routinely trashed Truman and called him an FDR socialist puppet, while buddying up to Joe McCarthy.

    Civil Rights act?

Okay, so Kennedy proposed it. Democrats today would call Kennedy an Alt-Right maniac.

Republicans literally have no policy positions. You should just strategically withdraw.
Well said. We can also add Social Security to that. Those currently employed may cry because money is deducted from their paychecks to fund it. But it's *still* a LOT cheaper than having mom and dad come live with you when they're elderly because they weren't able to save enough to retire on when they were raising you. Oh, and Medicare makes sure that you don't have to pay their doctor bills, either.

that's bullshit. Republicans started the whole war on domestic terrorism and it was such a smashing hit that the democrats wildly expanded upon it.
A sad commentary on we, as a people, and our viewpoint of our freedom can be summed up like this. We have liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans, yet those very people look at Constitutionalists as radical and extreme.................so those liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans must believe that the constitution is radical and extreme.

So you frantically started googling when it was pointed out to you the Medicare is a Democratic Policy.

    Truman was a Democrat.

Truman, to the best of my knowledge, envisioned a universal health care policy.

LBJ passed a more modest version of health insurance for seniors only, aka Medicare. That was his accomplishment. Your hero Ronald Reagan opposed LBJ's Medicare, and if it had been left up to Reagan, you or your parents would not have Medicaid.

The Democrat's movement is to tend towards socialism, a system that has never worked.

Yes, by being the actual domestic terrorists...like McVeigh, Nichols, and Rudolf among others.

Are you referring to the FBI taking down the Klan? Because that's not Republican policy.

Happen to notice by chance that just about everything involves taking money away from someone and giving money away to someone else ? Gee,....now those are some real hard brainbusting plans to come up with when most of the country is middle class or below! Sure takes a lot of talent and brains to buy votes.
