Qualified immunity is a two way street.

In exchange for that immunity, it prevented police from civilly suing people who assault, injure, and even murder police officers. All the way down to filing false complaints against police officers.

With people still acting stupidly and regularly forgetting about body cameras, I can see New York City's police officers acquiring great wealth in the near future.

An Asian NYPD detective is suing a man who was allegedly captured on camera spewing racist slurs at the 16-year veteran.

The lawsuit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court Tuesday, says Terrell Harper harassed him repeatedly during a demonstration on March 11, calling the cop a “goddamn cat eater” and asking if “he can see right?”
