Default The Alt Right has been coming up with another fake topic, no voting for 16 year olds

So the Alt Right posters have all gotten into a huff over supposed bill to give 16 year olds the right to vote. According to them, The For The People Bill forces 16 year olds to vote, which in turn, for some unknown reason, means they will all have to be drafted, and I guess gay married also.

The real bill authorizes 16 and 17 year olds to register to vote when they are 18, but does not force states to implement that. So lets say you are going to turn 18 before the next election, and your state allows you to do it, you would be able to register to vote in the next election... Not exactly ground breaking.

Right now, it is possible to be legal to vote at the time of an election, but to be too young to register in time for the election.

Hey. they have to come up with something to whine about, if this and children's books are what triggers them then let them have it.

By the way everything else is coming along nicely....looking forward to the next four years of even improving prosperity.

Republicans are desperate to come up with anything to disrupt debate.

A measure that was voted down 302 to 125 in a Democratic controlled House lost because of the Alt-Right? All those Democrats in the House listen to the Alt-Right now and do their bidding? That’s pretty amazing wouldn’t you say?

Never realized that. Makes sense to let them register ahead of their birthday if they would be legal to vote on voting day.

But should they be allowed to vote early if it occurs prior to their birthday?

    I would say no.

There are always a huge number of details to work out.

Another question that gets argued a lot lately is about people who die by election day. People are sick, so they vote with an absentee ballot, and then they die by election day.

Their votes should count. It was their will and it was legal.

Majority of House Dems Vote in Favor of Amendment to Lower Voting Age

An amendment that would have lowered the federal voting age from 18 to 16 as part of the H.R. 1 voting rights package failed to pass the House on Wednesday but received support from a majority of House Democrats.

Voting for sixteen year old youths is ludicrous.
I was an out of control prick at sixteen, and that was all just a normal part of my maturing process.
I leaned discipline in the boxing gym when I was 16.
If I got to be too much of an asshole, they might make me spar with a twenty-five year old pro which gave me an insight into the fact that I wasn't fully grown up yet, even if I was the same weight.

If the military didn't need eighteen year old recruits, voting even for 18 year old kids would merit a lot more discussion as well.
I can't believe anybody was serious about voting at sixteen.
Although the age of consent is 16 in Massachusetts, it most blue states even that is 18.
They didn't have in in 1964 when I turned 18 so I couldn't vote for LBJ.
Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel. Samuel Johnson, 1775
Religion....is the opiate of the people. Karl Marx, 1848
Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose. Kris Kristofferson, 1969
